Job description

Regions Hospital is hiring a Polysomnographic Technologist III.

Under the direction of the Manager, Sleep Health Center / Sleep Center Medical Director:

  • Coordinates and participates in the administration of comprehensive polysomnographic testing and analysis, and associated interventions. 
  • Provides patient education and therapeutic services related to sleep disorders. 
  • Follows HIPPA policies to maintain the privacy and security of patient information. 
  • Performs departmental care quality, systems compliance and regulatory policies assigned by management and/or quality/systems specialist.

Polysomnographic Technician III: RPSGT or RST certified: scores sleep data, generates accurate reports and provides feedback regarding these studies. Assists in education, training, and marketing responsibilities. 

This position may require some basic travel to outreach facilities for shift coverage or any necessary, job related tasks assigned by management.

Work schedule:  FTE: .9 (36 hrs. weekly), Monday-Friday Night Shift

Required Qualifications:

Education: High School diploma/GED, preferred.  Successful completion of polysomnography program, of no less than one year duration, associated with a state licensed and/or nationally accredited educational facility. 

Experience: A minimum of six (6) months experience as a Polysomnographic Technician III with documented proficiency in all required competencies, including moderately complex clinical laboratory testing. Upon hire must be able to complete the corresponding Sleep Health Center Competencies within six (6) months of hire. Must hold RST certificate or be BRPT registered and meet the Tech III Sleep Health Center scoring competencies. 

Other:

Six (6) months of full time Polysomnographic Technologist experience with documented proficiency in all require competencies will substitute for lacking education requirement, including clinical laboratory testing.

Licensure/Certification: 

RPSGT certification by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (BRPT) or Registered Sleep Technologist (RST) certification by the American Board of Sleep Medicine - required. BCLS certified. Licensed as Respiratory Care Therapist (LRT) with State of Minnesota, Registered as an EEG technician by ASET (American Society of Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists) LRT/REEG only.) - preferred.
