Position Summary

The Assistant Director of Operations supports the Director of Operations and executive leadership in overseeing the operational, financial, and regulatory performance of skilled nursing facilities managed by the company. This position works closely with facility administrators, department heads, and corporate support staff to promote high-quality resident care, regulatory compliance, financial accountability, and operational excellence.

The ideal candidate is a licensed Nursing Home Administrator in Louisiana with strong financial and analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and experience working in long-term care operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

The following represents the essential functions of the Assistant Director of Operations role. This list is intended to be a general description of duties and responsibilities; however, it is subject to change according to the needs of the company as determined by the Director of Operations or corporate designee.

Operational Leadership
  • Assist with the oversight of daily operations across assigned skilled nursing facilities.
  • Support and provide guidance to facility administrators and department leaders.
  • Monitor facility performance and help ensure compliance with company policies, operational standards, and strategic objectives.
  • Conduct routine facility visits and operational reviews.
  • Assist with the implementation of company initiatives, policies, systems, and performance-improvement plans.
  • Support facility leadership during administrator transitions, surveys, emergencies, and other periods requiring additional operational assistance.
Financial Management
  • Review facility financial statements, operating reports, budgets, and key performance indicators.
  • Analyze revenue, labor, census, accounts receivable, expenses, and operating margins.
  • Assist facility administrators in managing annual budgets.
  • Monitor financial performance and investigate significant budget variances.
  • Monitor staffing levels, overtime, agency utilization, purchasing, and other major operating expenses.
  • Ensure operational decisions appropriately balance resident care, regulatory requirements, and financial responsibility.
Leadership and Communication
  • Build productive working relationships with facility administrators, directors of nursing, department heads, and corporate staff.
  • Communicate operational expectations clearly and professionally.
  • Assist with recruiting, onboarding, training, and developing facility administrators.
  • Prepare accurate operational reports, financial analyses, and executive-level presentations.
  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive operational, financial, personnel, and resident information.

These duties are not all inclusive but provide minimum performance expectations that will be reviewed in the evaluation process. The Director of Operations or corporate designee may edit, alter, add to, or exclude duties and responsibilities based on the needs of the company.

Qualifications / Experience / Requirements Minimum Qualifications
  • Current and unrestricted Nursing Home Administrator license in the State of Louisiana.
  • Demonstrated understanding of skilled nursing facility operations and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong financial, analytical, and business-management skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to travel regularly to facilities throughout Louisiana or Texas.
Education and/or Experience
  • Three to four years of experience in long-term care or skilled nursing is preferred.
  • Experience with budgeting, financial analysis, labor management, census development, and expense control is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, reimbursement, survey, and regulatory processes applicable to skilled nursing facilities is preferred.
Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations
  • Current and unrestricted Nursing Home Administrator license in the State of Louisiana.
Reporting Relationship

The Assistant Director of Operations reports to the Director of Operations or another designated executive leader.
