Job description

Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – General/Medical (2nd Shift) – Correctional Facility

Pay rate: $45-$50 an hr
Location: London, OH 43140 (On-site)
Schedule: 2nd shift | 2:00 PM – 12:00 AM | Sun–Wed (must be flexible—days may change based on facility needs)
Type: Contract to hire
Pay: Competitive (based on experience)

Job Summary

We’re hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide general/medical nursing care in a state-operated correctional setting. This is a full-time contract role (not PRN) supporting patient care, medication administration, assessments, treatment plans, and emergency response.

Note: This role is general medical (not a dedicated psych/mental health RN position).

What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)

  • Provide professional nursing care to patients/inmates in a facility setting
  • Observe, assess, and document symptoms, reactions, and patient progress
  • Take and record vital signs; make nursing rounds
  • Prepare and administer prescribed medications, treatments, and immunizations
  • Respond to emergencies and provide immediate medical attention as needed
  • Perform clinical procedures as assigned (may include IV therapy, wound care, oxygen therapy, dialysis support, phlebotomy, etc.)
  • Maintain accurate charts/records; complete required reports
  • Assist with supply/equipment ordering and controlled medication inventory
  • Support staff training/orientation as needed

Requirements

  • Active Ohio RN license (required)
  • BLS/CPR certification (required)
  • Ability to work full-time and adhere to a secure facility environment
  • Strong documentation, assessment, and medication administration skills

  • No cell phones permitted
  • Must clear a metal detector
  • No personal items allowed inside
  • Food/drinks must be in clear containers; limited water allowed (facility rules apply)
