This role combines team leadership, project delivery, and business development, while working closely with Transportation Team Leads across other regions to ensure alignment, consistency, and shared success.

Position Summary / What You'll Do


As Transportation Team Lead, you will report to the Regional Director and lead Transportation staff within Region 1. You will be responsible for team performance, project delivery, and client relationships, while collaborating with Transportation Team Leads across other regions to share resources, align practices, and support firmwide growth.


This is a doer-seller role where you will contribute technically, lead strategically, and help expand RETTEW's presence in the transportation market.


Responsibilities / Day-to-Day
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of transportation engineers and project managers within Region 1
  • Partner with the Regional Director to set team goals, monitor performance, and support regional strategy
  • Collaborate with Transportation Team Leads across other regions to align standards, share resources, and balance workload
  • Oversee project delivery, ensuring quality, efficiency, and client satisfaction
  • Serve as a technical advisor and, when needed, project manager on complex or high-profile projects
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, supporting retention and repeat business
  • Support business development efforts, including proposals, client engagement, and identifying growth opportunities
  • Manage team workload, staffing, and financial performance to meet operational and revenue goals
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable team culture aligned with RETTEW's core values
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Pennsylvania
  • 12+ years of experience in transportation engineering, including project management
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams and managing performance
  • Strong understanding of transportation design, including roadway, traffic, and/or PennDOT projects
  • Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships

Preferred:

  • Experience working across multiple offices or regions
  • Active involvement in professional organizations such as ASHE or ITE
  • Experience contributing to business development strategy and growth
