Position Summary:

The Transportation Planner will assist the Transportation Director in managing, planning, and coordinating day to-day transportation needs and special projects resulting in high service levels and effective spend management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist Transportation Management with TMS optimizing as needed.
  • Build & maintain relationships with carriers to facilitate high service levels on time deliveries.
  • Assist Transportation Director in building trucks & carrier selection.
  • Manage carriers & processes to minimize loss/damage freight claims & late fees.
  • Assist with approving or denying claims based on paperwork, pictures and research.
  • Schedule deliveries to meet customer requirements using web-based scheduling systems.
  • Responsible for planning efficient routes and maximizing truck utilization.
  • Work closely with customer service and respond promptly to resolve any issues/requests.
  • Provide carriers with load information.
  • Assist & respond to carrier questions and accessorial approval requests.
  • Maintain accurate database using AS400.
  • Assist in tracking shipments.
  • Continuously access and improve the load planning process.
  • Work on special projects related to transportation and spend management.
  • Compile information for various tracking and reporting.
  • Develop and maintain SOP'S needed for the Transportation Planner role.
  • Create and maintain key job aides needed for role coverage.
  • Implement process improvements as needed within the transportation department.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Ability to legally work in the United States is required.
  • Bachelors Degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain or related field required.
  • Minimum 3 years experience as a Transportation Analyst, Transportation Coordinator or equivalent role required.
  • Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Office requirements.
  • Must be flexible and able to work as needed.
  • Must be able to work in a high-speed processing environment.

Pay range for this position is $75,000 to $85,000 depending on experience.

Benefits for this role include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, FSA, HSA, 401(k) Plan with Company Match, Vacation & PTO, and Tuition Reimbursement. There is also a potential for a discretionary bonus this bonus is based on personal & company performance and is not a guaranteed bonus plan.
