Job description

Part time Scenic Carpenter

Historic Hudson Valley (HHV) is a Westchester-based cultural non-profit that welcomes visitors to four National Historic Landmarks. HHV has several openings for Part-Time Scenic Carpenters to join the team that produces our portfolio of annual festivals, including the Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze in Croton on Hudson. The ideal candidate will have plenty of hands-on carpentry experience working as part of a stage crew, or in a similar environment that builds elements to be set up, broken down and packed for transport.

Job Overview

· Use a variety of tools, processes (ripping, chopping, nailing, gluing), materials (MDO, lumber, lighting stringer), and equipment to complete assigned projects. Tools may include, but are not limited to table saw, router, drill press, nail gun, hand and power tools.

· Participate in transportation, installation, strike, storage and disposal of scenery, including loading and unloading trucks.

· Participate in the ongoing inventory of shop supplies, tracking quantities of sheet material, lumber, fasteners and other necessary consumable materials.

· Assist in maintaining the safety and efficiency of all shop operations.

· Participate in the maintenance and repair of shop, tools and site facilities, as requested.

· May include limited travel to other sites in Westchester area.

· Must be available to work at HHV events, including weekends and holidays. Availability and flexibility during HHV Fall event season to work approximately ten evening shifts, five to six hours each shift.

Requirements

· Successful candidates will have demonstrated experience as a theatrical or rough carpenter, a willingness to learn some light electrical work, and a flexible attitude.

· Demonstrated experience working as part of a stage crew, or similar environment that builds elements to be set up, broken down and packed for transport.

· Availability to work regularly, from 8am – 4pm, 2-3 days per week, in Croton on Hudson.

· Ability to work outdoors, in all weather conditions, is necessary.

· Ability to drive all terrain forklift/lull preferred, will train the right candidate.

· Clean and current drivers license.
