Title: Network Engineer

Job Description:
Job Responsibilities
  • Manage and configure startup and running configurations for network switch equipment.
  • Perform network configurations from DMARC to workstations, including fiber distribution, routers, switches, DHCP, and necessary topology for high QoS.
  • Monitor protocol compatibility, perform system tuning, and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain network (LAN, WLAN, & WAN) multiplexers, hubs, and routers using remote monitoring tools.
  • Perform capacity and resource planning, assessing network risks and contingency planning.
  • Apply knowledge of the OSI model to ensure proper data flow throughout the environment.
  • Communicate with the Information Security Team regarding firewall rules needed to support projects and new equipment/applications.
  • Maintain and utilize network management applications to identify faults and ensure seamless data and telecommunications access.
  • Adhere to departmental procedures and policies, including on-site travel for issue resolution and resource deployment.
  • Track incidents and IT equipment transfers/relocation accurately through service desk ticketing systems.
  • Travel frequently to FDOT offices and/or remote locations to provide required support.
  • Participate in after-hours (evening & weekend) on-call rotation.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Required Skills
  • Enterprise IT network experience is required.
  • Experience with HPE/Aruba networking equipment is highly desired.
  • Preparation, configuration, and support of Windows 11 systems, Active Directory, MECM.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly; valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; certifications preferred: CompTIA Network+, Security+, Cisco CCNA.
  • Ability to learn new systems and software in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, critical and analytical thinking, and adaptability.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Capacity to perform under pressure, with strong organizational and time-management skills.

Additional Notes
  • As a technology team member, must be contactable to respond to requests/incidents.
  • Vendor will provide the contractor with a smartphone with data service that complies with FDOT agency security requirements.
  • Smartphones must receive manufacturer/carrier security updates and be maintained throughout the contractor's tenure.
  • Contractor will utilize mobile applications such as Outlook, Teams & ServiceNow, kept up to date via platform app stores.
