Our Transportation Planning Team in Seattle has an opening for a Transportation Planner to support a wide range of multimodal planning efforts including corridor studies, safety improvements, traffic modeling, and pedestrian and bicycle projects focused on local communities in the Puget Sound region. This role combines transportation analysis, technical writing, and cross-disciplinary collaboration to help deliver practical, community-focused transportation solutions that improve mobility and safety. In this role, you'll directly contribute to developing transportation projects that shape how people move through and experience their communities.

What You'll Do

As our Transportation Planner, you'll play a key role in shaping the transportation systems for local communities by supporting multimodal planning efforts, working with clients, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop practical transportation solutions. You'll support all aspects of the transportation planning group, including marketing, scope development, field work and data collection, transportation modeling and analysis, community engagement, and the development of reports and presentations.

  • Multimodal Planning
    Assist with the analysis and development of pedestrian, bicycle, vehicle, transit, and safety improvements to support our design team.
  • Transportation Modeling
    Analyze transportation operations using modeling and simulation software to support corridor studies and identify recommend improvements.
  • Safety Analysis
    Evaluate safety issues and concerns in communities. This includes analysis of crash data, safety needs and trends, research into best practices, and identification of targeted safety improvements.
  • Interdisciplinary Teamwork
    Work as a cohesive team with professionals from Psomas' civil engineering, urban design, environmental, landscape architecture, and construction management disciplines to gain new insights, while seeing your plans get built.
  • Collaboration & Communication
    Work closely with transportation planners, engineers, urban designers, clients, and project stakeholders in a collaborative team environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, or a related field.
  • 0-5 years of transportation planning, traffic engineering, transportation analysis, or related experience.
  • Strong technical writing, report development, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to balance multiple project commitments and deadlines.
  • Competency with Microsoft Office product suite, including Word and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, or a related field.
  • Experience with Synchro traffic operations modeling software.
  • Experience developing maps, graphics, and presentation materials that communicate technical concepts to clients and the public.

  • Pay Range: $36.00 - $50.00 per hour (commensurate with experience).
