Transportation Operations Supervisor

Location: Olathe / Lenexa, KS
Schedule: 8am-5pm, M-F with Saturday 1/2 days.

Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated and results-oriented Transportation Operations Supervisor to join our team.

In this role, you will oversee daily transportation operations, support commercial drivers, and help ensure safe, efficient, and customer-focused service. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, excels at problem-solving, and is committed to building a positive team culture while driving operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise the day-to-day transportation operations to ensure safe, efficient, and on-time service.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of hourly employees and commercial drivers while promoting accountability and engagement.
  • Manage daily staffing, scheduling, dispatch, and workforce planning to meet operational demands.
  • Monitor route performance, productivity, and service levels, proactively addressing operational challenges.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for driver support, customer concerns, and operational escalations.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, DOT regulations, and all safety standards.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings, performance discussions, and employee coaching sessions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve processes and deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel and other operational systems to analyze data, prepare reports, and support decision-making.
  • Support extended business hours and occasional Saturday operations during peak seasons as needed.
  • Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
QualificationsRequired
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience in transportation, logistics, distribution, or a similar fast-paced operational environment.
  • Experience supervising hourly employees and commercial drivers.
  • Strong scheduling, dispatch, and workforce planning experience.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to safety and compliance.
Preferred
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation industry best practices.
  • Experience using transportation management, routing, or dispatch software.
  • Experience with performance management, employee development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
