Job Summary

The General Manager is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of logistics operations within an organization. Plays a critical role in driving efficiency, optimizing supply chain processes, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective movement of goods. Additionally, leads a team of logistics professionals, sets strategic direction, and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to achieve business objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for logistics operations to support organizational goals and objectives.
  • Oversee the end-to-end supply chain process, including procurement, inventory management, warehousing, transportation, and distribution.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and drive operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement logistics strategies that align with sales, production, and customer service goals.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers, vendors, and logistics service providers to ensure cost-effective and reliable transportation and logistics solutions.
  • Lead and mentor a team of logistics professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback.
  • Monitor industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.
  • Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices to optimize logistics processes and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with local, regional, and international trade regulations and customs requirements.
  • Manage logistics budgets, forecasting, and financial performance, identifying areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
  • Stay informed about market conditions, customer demands, and competitive landscape to drive strategic decisionโ€‘making.
  • Direct supervision of the Warehouse Supervisors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within logistics or supply chain management, preferably in a similar industry or organization.
  • Strong knowledge of logistics operations, supply chain management, and transportation strategies.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop employees.
  • Strategic thinking and problemโ€‘solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decisionโ€‘making.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of financial principles related to logistics and supply chain management.
  • Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control software.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and customs requirements.
  • Ability to adapt to a fastโ€‘paced and dynamic business environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement and implement best practices in logistics operations.
  • Able to lead salaried/exempt positions in multiโ€‘shift operation with > 50 employees.
  • Minimal travel to additional location at least once per quarter.
  • Proficiency in using computer systems and software, including MS Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and practices in a warehouse environment.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management Business Administration, or related field required. Master's degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in Operations Management required.
Physical Requirements
  • Periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Standing and Walking: The role requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods as to navigate the warehouse floor and moves between different areas of the facility.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times.
  • Safety Awareness: Should be mindful of safety procedures and have a strong awareness of potential hazards in the warehouse environment.
