The Emergency Medical Technician for the Emergency Room assists with a variety of direct and indirect patient care activities in the Emergency room.
Qualified candidate MUST be certified in the State of Viginia as an EMT-Advanced, EMT-Intermediate or EMT-Paramedic.
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Emergency Room
  • Assists with activities of daily living, comfort care and nutritional support under supervision of a licensed independent practitioner, manager and/or Registered Nurse, in accordance with the Commonwealth of Virginia Board of Nursing delegation and supervision guidelines,
  • May perform selected diagnostic and therapeutic tasks and procedures as directed.
  • P rovides patient care, emotional support, and problem solving; all in accordance with hospital, nursing and unit policy/procedure.
  • Maintains a clean safe environment, ensuring adequate inventory of supplies and equipment, and data collection as pertinent to the patient population.
  • Transports patients in hospital observing safety guidelines.
  • Maintains advanced transport medical knowledge and abilities.
  • Interacts with physicians, patients, families, staff members and community.
What We Require:
Education: High school graduate or equivalent required.
Experience: none
Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: Certified in the State of Viginia as an EMT-Advanced, EMT-Intermediate or EMT-Paramedic required. AHA BLS - HCP, and ACLS required.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Must maintain continuing education hours to meet re-certification status as required by State and National standards.
