Job description

Under the supervision of the Customer Solutions Center Manager, the Patient Transport Coordinator (PTC) is responsible for assisting with the scheduling and coordination of transport from Holy Cross Hospital – Silver Spring, including their Dedicated Ambulance. The PTC will work collaboratively with hospital staff, patients and their families, transport crews, and Butler’s Customer Solutions Center to ensure the transport process from the hospital is completed safely, efficiently, and with the highest level of customer service.


Role and Responsibilities

  • Schedule wheelchair, Basic Life Support, Advanced Life Support and Critical Care Transport requests.
  • Ensure patient information and paperwork are correct and complete to facilitate accurate and timely billing.
  • Schedule and dispatch the dedicated ambulance crew for the scheduled shift.
  • Serve as a liaison between hospital staff and transport crews.
  • Assist in the safe transport from the hospital room to the ambulance.
  • Secure and upload necessary paperwork to Butler Medical CAD.
  • Respond to email and phone calls timely and efficiently.


QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduation From High School or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a hospital or medical office setting, knowledge of medical terminology, and medical record keeping.
  • Ability to assess patient needs and comprehend/evaluate medical records and reports.
  • Ability to remain composed and multi-task in a busy, high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to comprehend or learn department practices, rules, and regulations quickly.
  • Ability to speak clearly, concisely, and respectfully.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population, including medical professionals.
  • Ability to think and react quickly and effectively in tense situations.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to recall details from numerous informational resources.
  • Ability to prioritize decisions based upon multiple criteria and identifiable standards of policies and procedures.
  • Ability to operate telephone and other specialized computer communication equipment.
  • Ability to pass a lift test of 150 – 200 pounds.
  • Current AHA CPR Certification or ability obtain during onboarding process.
  • Must be at least 19 years old or older at time of hire for insurance purposes
  • Successful completion of NREMT certification
  • Current NREMT and State EMT (or ability to obtain with in 10 days of hire)
  • Maintain a reliable attendance record and be punctual daily.
  • Pass background investigation.


PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Previous EMS experience, EMT or higher a plus.
  • Ability to work with a high level of autonomy.
  • Exemplary customer service skills.
