Job Description

Reports to: Area Transload Manager

Job Summary:
The Transload Manager is responsible for overall leadership, performance, and daily operations of the 88th transload facility. The position will provide direct oversight of all site activities, including shipping schedules, customer communication, coordination with railroads, employee development, regulatory compliance, and equipment utilization. The Transload manager is accountable for building and leading a team, while fostering a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable regulations. This role will establish, manage, and maintain a plant budget, overseeing maintenance programs and capital improvements initiatives to support operational efficiency and long-term facility performance.


Supervisory Responsibilities:
โ€ข Supervise up to 8-12 employees directly and indirectly.
โ€ข Will be expected to provide coaching or mentoring on Transloading matters.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
โ€ข Directly manages and supervises 88th Ave., yard foreman, and employees.
โ€ข Coordinates and maintains positive relationships with pertinent Railroads, Customers, Safety Department, Human Resources, Equipment Manager, Sales Department, Regulatory Manager, Engineering Department, Aggregate Production, D&I Railroad, and Midwest Transload.
โ€ข Promotes high-performance culture emphasizing teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
โ€ข Oversee unloading material from rail cars, switching and movement of rail cars, equipment maintenance, and inspections with utmost efficiency and emphasis on quality control.
โ€ข Ensures sites are well-maintained and aesthetically pleasing.
โ€ข Follows all company safety and environmental policies and all federal regulations (OSHA, EPA).
โ€ข Make sure weekly safety meetings are conducted.
โ€ข Create yearly site budget in coordination with Area Transload Manager and Vice President. Monitor actual performance throughout the year against the budget and review with the Area Transload Manager.
โ€ข Set transload schedule according to priorities as set by the customer and coordinate with customer sales staff to ensure expectations are met within the necessary timeframes and specifications.
โ€ข Set wage levels and review increase requests with authorization required from the Area Transload Manager.
โ€ข Monitor attendance, performance, and safety of all employees and manage accordingly.
โ€ข Provides recommendations for site enhancements and reviews to the Area Transload Manager. Implements the needed changes/improvements once approved.


Required Skills/Abilities:
โ€ข Must have previous transloading and rail industry experience.
โ€ข Must understand all human resources policies and procedures.
โ€ข Knowledge and understanding of employment-related laws and regulations.
โ€ข Extensive experience and knowledge with OSHA and EPA.
โ€ข Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
โ€ข Apt at problem-solving, inquisitive, and detail-oriented.
โ€ข Data-informed and analytical.
โ€ข Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
โ€ข Technically proficient with MS Office and HRIS Applications.
Education and Experience:
โ€ข At least one year of related experience is required.
โ€ข High School Diploma or GED. A college education is not required but is preferred.


Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
Must be able to work in an outdoor environment with exposure to weather, noise, and dust.
Must have and maintain a valid driverโ€™s license.
Must be able to withstand prolonged periods of standing.
Must be able to withstand periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Performing physical activities such as stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting and grasping.
Some travel may be required.
