What does a Translation Project Manager do?

A Translation Project Manager oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of translation projects. They work as a bridge between clients and translators, ensuring that project requirements, timelines, and quality standards are met. Their responsibilities often include managing budgets, assigning tasks to linguists, tracking progress, and addressing any issues that arise during the translation process. Ultimately, their goal is to deliver accurate, high-quality translations on time and within budget.

To thrive as a Translation Project Manager, you need strong organizational abilities, multilingual proficiency, and a background in translation studies or project management. Familiarity with translation management systems (TMS), CAT tools like SDL Trados or MemoQ, and sometimes certifications such as PMP or ATA are highly beneficial.
