Job description

Toyota Automated Logistics is seeking a Regional Project Manager for their San Dimas office team.
Job Overview:
The Project Manager's involvement begins in the sales cycle. This may involve estimating, solicitation of subcontractor proposals, assistance in presentations, review of proposed contracts, project scheduling and systems design. As the sales process transitions into the implementation phase, the PM takes on increasing responsibility for understanding and controlling TAL's risk from technical, contractual, cash flow, and organizational standpoint. This may involve estimating, solicitation and selection of subcontractor proposals, assistance in presentations, defining project implementation timeline, review of contracts, and systems design. The Project Manager will stay involved and travel to the customer site throughout the installation, go-live and acceptance process ensuring customer satisfaction while maintaining the project budget and timeline.
Job Functions:
  • Work with the assigned team to review proposals, contracts and new orders for accuracy and commercial and technical issues.
  • Estimate and direct internal TAL resources necessary to successfully complete the project.
  • Maintain positive cash flow on all projects. Work with accounts and business support specialist to follow up on past due invoices. Approve all supplier invoices related to the project. Immediately return "held" supplier invoices to business support specialist and communicate the reason for holding.
  • Publish weekly Project Logs Status Updates and other recurring reports.
  • Be aware of budget margin and current forecast margin +/- 1% of all major projects at all times (Typically 2-3 projects at a time).
  • Responsible for content, format and timeliness of all project correspondence and submittals including drawings, letters, equipment and controls documentation, spare parts lists, purchase orders.
  • Manage the project schedule. Use electronic Gantt chart for installed projects. utilizing Microsoft Project Online.
  • Support the Site Supervisors when they need help in the field or act as the primary site manager as needed.
  • Maintain organized electronic file structure throughout project life cycle
  • Take ownership of TAL's project team and our suppliers. The PM represents all of TAL's and is the main point of the contact for the customer.
  • Anticipate project roadblocks and take action as needed
  • Lead quick resolutions to customer back-charges and manage Change Orders when new scope is requested after the project has been sold.
  • Develop testing reports in collaboration with project team members and lead testing efforts on site
  • Pursue PMP certification if not already certified. Complete all administrative tasks/paperwork and expense reports in timely manner.
  • Document, publish and present project "lessons learned". Ensure that current project "close-out" checklists are complete
  • Maintain a consistently positive, enthusiastic attitude.
  • Support other resources within the regional network as needed

Travel Requirements:
  • 80% daily travel to customer sites, with occasional overnight stays (Travel expenses paid by Toyota Automated Logistics)
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license and passport

Required Qualifications and Preferred Skills:
  • Must be eligible to work in the USA long term without sponsorship.
  • Bachelors of Engineering required or Bachelors Degree with equivalent technical experience.
  • MS, MBA or PMP certification a plus.
  • 2+ years' experience in project management.
  • Experience in material handling, robotics, manufacturing or packaging preferred.
  • Experience and/or education in basic financials, conversant with concepts of project ROI, discounted cash flows, simple and compound interest and depreciation.
  • Must be extremely literate with MS Office software suite (particularly MS Excel).
  • MS Project or similar experience is required
  • AutoCAD experience is preferred.
