Job Summary:
Mindlance is a company seeking a Business Data Analyst to support programs involving data migration and governance. The role includes collaborating with stakeholders, conducting data analysis, and ensuring compliance in data handling.
Responsibilities:
• Acting as the critical bridge between procurement stakeholders and the data engineering squad to ensure that business rules, active vs. archived data delineations, and migration mappings are accurately translated into technical specifications
• Conduct data discovery and profiling on legacy source databases (Oracle, Dynamics/Dataverse).
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to define criteria for categorizing "active" data (to be migrated) versus "historical" data (to be archived) per client retention policies.
• Document business rules governing procurement domains (Contracts, Suppliers, Risks).
• Author detailed Source-to-Target Mapping (STTM) documents to translate legacy schemas to AWS/Azure target schemas.
• Define cleansing logic to handle missing fields, standardize formats, and resolve duplicate records prior to extraction.
• Translate business logic into technical specs for the engineering team.
• Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) cycles and test scenarios for migration sign-off.
• Communicate status, scope, and technical constraints to non-technical business users.
• Document rollback protocols and on-demand data refresh workflows to mitigate operational downtime.
• Proactively identify Personally Identifiable Information (PII) to ensure appropriate encryption in transit and at rest.
• Ensure end-to-end data lineage is documented for compliance.
• Maintain the Data Quality Rulebook, STTM documents, and UAT test scripts.
• Document business requirements for the cutover phase and ongoing reporting.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field.
• 5+ years of BA experience with a proven track record leading large-scale legacy-to-cloud data migration workstreams.
• Expert proficiency in SQL for independent data profiling.
• Deep understanding of ETL/ELT concepts, relational databases, and data warehousing.
• Conceptual familiarity with core cloud data services across AWS (S3, RDS) and Azure (ADLS, Databricks).
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
• Demonstrated ability to elicit and document complex, ambiguous requirements in rapidly evolving domains.
• SQL proficiency for independent data profiling.
• Conceptual understanding of AWS (S3, RDS) and Azure (ADLS Gen2) data architecture and ETL/ELT processes.
• Systems thinking and ability to reason about emergent, non-deterministic behavior.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Comfort operating in ambiguous, fast-moving environments with iterative delivery cycles.
Preferred:
• Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or equivalent
• PMI Professional in Business Analysis (PMI-PBA)
