Job description

ABOUT THE TEAM

The Sand Table team at Anduril develops our revolutionary platform for visualizing future defense scenarios. We transform massive amounts of data into an intuitive, interactive 3D command center, serving as the visual interface for mission simulations, a key business development tool, and a powerful demonstration of our advanced capabilities to government and military leaders. We take ambitious ideas from concept to completion, building the core with high-performance C++ and enabling rapid feature expansion through modern scripting and plugin frameworks. The Sand Table team manages the complex logistics for delivering flawless augmented reality demonstrations in headset to critical stakeholders. As a cross-functional group of builders, strategists, and operators, we combine the creative energy of a top game studio with the rigorous discipline of national security to shape how the future of defense is visualized and understood.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Sand Table Security Engineer, you will be responsible for the foundation, compliance, and deployment readiness of our 3D visualization platform. You will bridge the gap between high-performance C++ engineering and the rigorous security and accreditation standards required by our government customers. Operating with high autonomy, you will keep our codebase modern by upgrading critical third-party dependencies, hardening our software for secure environments, and supporting the deployment of cutting-edge VR hardware. This is a critical role for ensuring our software can transition seamlessly from the lab to secure government networks.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Drive Compliance & Accreditation: Update our builds and engineering processes to meet strict government compliance standards, paving the way for seamless software accreditation.
  • Enable Secure Development: Build, maintain, and support software development and testing infrastructure within secure, classified, and air-gapped environments.
  • Manage System Dependencies: Proactively upgrade core libraries and third-party dependencies to keep our codebase secure, modern, and performant.
  • Deploy Immersive Hardware: Lead the setup, configuration, and logistics for VR headsets, ensuring flawless hardware deployment for critical customer demonstrations.
  • Solve Complex Systems Challenges: Operate with high autonomy to diagnose and resolve technical issues at the intersection of core C++ engine code, hardware, and strict security constraints.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Currently possesses and is able to maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
  • Experience with Linux environments and network security fundamentals
  • Professional software engineering experience, with strong proficiency in C++ and experience working in performance-critical codebases
  • Proven ability to work with high autonomy, taking initiative to solve open-ended problems and deliver results independently
  • Experience with build systems, software packaging, or managing complex third-party library dependencies
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose hardware/software integration issues in the field
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including security officers, systems administrators, and core software developers
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Currently possesses and is able to maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance
  • Direct experience deploying software to secure, air-gapped, or classified government environments
  • Experience with VR/AR hardware development, setup, and deployment (e.g., Quest, Varjo, or similar headsets)
  • Familiarity with TypeScript for scripting, tooling, or application development
  • Experience navigating government compliance, accreditation, or secure software authorization processes
  • Hands-on experience with security scanning tools (e.g., Snyk, Checkmarx, SonarQube, Nessus) and the vulnerability management lifecycle
