About the Role

Our client is seeking dependable and detail-oriented Winders / Coil Winders to support the manufacturing of transformers in a fast-paced production environment. This role is responsible for winding coils, handling materials, following production specifications, and ensuring accuracy in measurements, counts, and quality standards.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with numbers, reading basic measurements, and performing shop math such as converting percentages, fractions, decimals, and measurements. This position requires strong attention to detail, good hand coordination, and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.


REQUIREMENTS

    ABOUT THE COMPANY

    Key Responsibilities

    • Wind transformer coils using winding machines, hand tools, and production equipment.
    • Read and follow work orders, winding instructions, production specifications, and basic drawings.
    • Count turns accurately and verify coil dimensions throughout the winding process.
    • Measure materials and components using rulers, tape measures, calipers, or other measuring tools.
    • Perform basic math, including converting fractions, decimals, percentages, and measurements as needed.
    • Inspect coils for accuracy, alignment, tension, spacing, and quality.
    • Handle copper or aluminum wire, insulation materials, and related transformer components.
    • Set up, operate, and monitor winding equipment safely and efficiently.
    • Report production issues, material concerns, or quality defects to the supervisor.
    • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
    • Follow all company safety policies, PPE requirements, and quality procedures.


    Qualifications


    Required:

    • Previous manufacturing, machine operation, assembly, or production experience preferred.
    • Ability to read and understand basic work instructions and production specifications.
    • Strong basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, percentages, and measurement conversions.
    • Ability to use basic measuring tools accurately.
    • High attention to detail and ability to work with repetitive precision.
    • Reliable attendance and willingness to work in a hands-on manufacturing environment.


    Preferred:

    • Previous experience as a coil winder, transformer winder, electrical assembler, or machine operator.
    • Experience working with copper wire, aluminum wire, coils, electrical components, or transformer parts.
    • Ability to read basic blueprints, diagrams, or technical drawings.
    • Experience in transformer, electrical equipment, power systems, or industrial manufacturing.


    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and use hands for extended periods.
    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
    • Comfortable working around machinery, production equipment, and moving parts.
    • Must be able to wear required PPE and follow all safety procedures.


    Compensation

    Pay range is $18.00 – $20+ per hour, based on experience, skill level, and ability to read work instructions, perform basic shop math, and work accurately with measurements, fractions, decimals, and percentages.

    Candidates with prior coil winding, transformer winding, electrical assembly, or transformer manufacturing experience may be considered at the higher end of the range.
