Position Summary:
The Sr. Director TPM, Marketplace Tech & AI Strategy supports execution of one of Walmart’s top five strategic initiatives, driving Marketplace technology strategy and AI transformation across a rapidly expanding international business. This role owns the operating cadence for large-scale cross-functional programs spanning global platform integration, portfolio governance, AI transformation, strategic external partnerships, internal dependency management, analytics, and organizational change. The remit directly impacts more than 1,500 associates across the Global Marketplace Platform organization and 500+ associates across Global Tech supporting Marketplace initiatives.
The leader aligns business and technology priorities across engineering, product, data science, and operations teams, ensuring execution against complex, multi-year initiatives. Key stakeholders include Product, Business, and broader growth tech leadership team. Success in this role requires strong technical program leadership, executive influence, and the ability to scale operating models, decision-making, and transformation programs across a global Marketplace organization.
Key Priorities:
  • Global Platform Integration: Lead enterprise-wide platform integration initiatives to drive architecture consolidation, platform standardization, and capability maturity alignment across global technology stacks. Partner with engineering leadership to accelerate modernization and enable scalable execution of the unified global product roadmap.
  • Tech Strategy & Partnerships: Lead org-wide dependency management, cross-functional execution, and operational alignment across engineering organizations and external integration partners across global markets. Drive roadmap coordination, escalation management, and evaluation of emerging technology partners to improve delivery execution and operational transparency across global markets.
  • Platform Analytics & Operating Rhythm: Lead platform analytics, organizational metrics, and executive operating mechanisms across the engineering organization. Own WBRs, MBRs, QBRs, KPI governance, and OKR definition and tracking to improve execution visibility, operational alignment, and data-driven decision-making at scale.
  • Change Management & Communications: Lead organizational change management and communication initiatives supporting engineering transformation programs. Drive executive communications, All Hands, leadership updates, internal newsletters, pulse surveys, and adoption initiatives to improve organizational alignment, communication effectiveness, and execution readiness across platform modernization, AI transformation, and operating model changes.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing systemic engineering friction and improving execution effectiveness across the organization. Drive papercuts and fix-the-foundation programs, Kaizens, Gemba walks, Kaikaku initiatives, and executive escalations to improve delivery consistency, workflow efficiency, and operational maturity across global technology platforms.
  • Portfolio Management & AI Transformation: Lead  portfolio governance, AI-native SDLC transformation, and operational effectiveness across the engineering organization. Drive org-level prioritization and tradeoff management, execution visibility, Jira hygiene, tech capitalization alignment, headcount controls, vendor rationalization, and adoption of AI-enabled engineering practices to improve delivery effectiveness and engineering leverage across the organization.
