What does a Transform Energy professional do?

A Transform Energy professional works to improve how energy is produced, managed, and used, often focusing on transitioning from traditional energy sources to more sustainable and efficient alternatives. Their responsibilities may include analyzing current energy systems, developing renewable energy projects, implementing energy efficiency solutions, and advising organizations on best practices for energy transformation. These professionals play a key role in helping businesses, governments, and communities reduce their carbon footprint and achieve energy sustainability goals.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Energy Transformation Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Energy Transformation Specialist, you need a solid background in energy systems, sustainability, and project management, usually supported by a degree in engineering or environmental science. Familiarity with energy modeling software, renewable energy technologies, and certifications like LEED or PMP is highly valuable. Strong analytical thinking, communication, and stakeholder management skills help drive successful projects and client relationships. These competencies are essential to effectively lead energy transition initiatives, ensure regulatory compliance, and deliver impactful solutions in the evolving energy sector.

Transform Energy professionals focus on the broader energy sector, including power generation and distribution, often requiring industry-specific certifications. Solar Energy Technicians specialize in installing and maintaining solar panels, working mainly outdoors at solar sites. While both roles involve energy, Transform Energy roles are more industrial and utility-oriented, whereas Solar Energy Technicians are specialized in renewable solar solutions.

What are some typical challenges faced by professionals in Transform Energy roles, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals working in Transform Energy positions often encounter challenges such as managing complex projects that require cross-disciplinary collaboration, adapting to rapidly evolving technologies, and navigating regulatory frameworks in the energy sector. Job description

Application Development Specialist – Power Transformers
Energy Solutions | Nomex® Insulation Systems | North America (USMCA)

About Arclin
You can find Arclin everywhere. Our technologies make homes and transportation safer, help crops flourish, keep water clean, protect first responders and members of the military, and preserve the purity of essential pharmaceuticals. These critical, everyday products can’t fail—and we’re here to deliver performance and peace of mind.
With approximately 4,000 team members across more than 30 global manufacturing facilities, we combine global scale with the agility to solve complex challenges at the molecular level. Our materials drive performance across industries, from advanced fire protection technologies to globally recognized brands like Kevlar® and Nomex®.
As we expand our portfolio of mission-critical materials, we are looking for individuals who want to grow, lead, and help solve the challenges others can’t. At Arclin, our people are truly Vital Beyond Measure.

The Opportunity
We are seeking a technically strong, customer-facing transformer specialist to drive adoption of Nomex® insulation systems across North America.
This role sits at the intersection of engineering, customer engagement, and market strategy—working directly with transformer OEMs to influence design decisions, solve technical challenges, and identify new opportunities in a rapidly growing market.

What You’ll Do
  • Partner with transformer design engineers at OEMs to specify insulation systems and influence design decisions
  • Support both dry-type (VPI) and liquid-filled transformer applications
  • Engage directly with engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams to solve technical challenges
  • Travel across the US, Canada, and Mexico to build relationships and support customers on-site
  • Work alongside sales to strengthen customer engagement and uncover new opportunities
  • Identify emerging trends and bring forward new application ideas and market insights
  • Support technical problem-solving, testing interpretation, and performance optimization
  • Participate in industry groups, standards discussions, and technical forums
What We’re Looking For/Required
  • Experience in transformer design, manufacturing, or engineering (typically 3–5+ years)
  • Bachelors or above degree in Electrical Engineering or related major
  • Hands-on understanding of transformer systems and how they are built
  • Ability to work directly with technical stakeholders in customer environments
Preferred
  • Customer-facing or applications engineering experience
  • Knowledge of electrical insulation systems and materials
  • Familiarity with industry standards (IEEE, UL, IEC)
  • Existing relationships within transformer OEMs or utilities
Success Profile
  • Strong communicator who can translate technical concepts into real-world solutions
  • Comfortable operating both in engineering discussions and customer-facing environments
  • Naturally curious and proactive in identifying opportunities
  • Motivated to move beyond a purely desk-based technical role
Role Scope
  • Region: United States, Canada, and Mexico
  • Travel: Approximately 25%
Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive base salary aligned to experience and market conditions (generally within a broad professional range)
  • Target annual bonus opportunity
  • Comprehensive benefits package
Why This Role is Compelling
  • Move beyond a single design role into a position with broad industry influence
  • Work across multiple OEMs and applications rather than a single product line
  • Gain visibility across engineering, business strategy, and customer engagement
  • Contribute to solutions supporting electrification, infrastructure growth, and emerging energy demands
