Job Goal(s):
The Transportation Systems Coordinator supports and modernizes district transportation operations through the management of transportation technology systems, data integration, operational analytics, and digital workflow implementation.
This position plays a key role in improving efficiency, data accuracy, reporting, communication, and overall transportation effectiveness through technology-driven solutions and process improvement.
Employment
Terms:
12 month contract; Full-time; eligible for health insurance benefits.
As per negotiated agreement between the Board of Education and the Paramus Public School Association.
Reports To:
School Business Administrator
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Information Systems, Business Administration, Operations Management, Data Analytics, Logistics/Supply Chain, Public Administration, GIS, or a related field.
  • Candidates should possess strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage data, operational processes, and technology systems effectively.
  • Proficiency in reporting tools, database systems, and Microsoft Office applications preferred. Excellent communication skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders required.
  • Relevant professional experience in operations, logistics, systems coordination, or data management may be considered in lieu of degree requirements.

Performance Responsibilities:
1. Transportation Systems & Data Management
  • Manage and maintain transportation-related software systems (e.g., routing, student data integration, parent communication platforms)
  • Coordinate and support integration between student information systems and transportation routing systems (e.g., Genesis, Transfinder)
  • Maintain accurate transportation databases, including student assignments, bus stops, routes, and ridership data
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve data discrepancies across systems
  • Serve as liaison with software vendors and IT for system support and upgrades

2. Route Utilization & Operational Analytics
  • Support ongoing route utilization studies and transportation efficiency analysis
  • Analyze ridership, route capacity, bus stop locations, and routing performance
  • Assist in evaluating and modeling transportation policy changes (e.g., courtesy busing, stop consolidation)
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and visualizations for administration and Board use
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as cost per route, ridership utilization, and route efficiency

3. Digital Workflow & Process Improvement
  • Design, implement, and maintain digital workflows for transportation processes (e.g., field trips, approvals, requests)
  • Support transition from paper-based systems to electronic documentation
  • Assist in development of systems for fleet maintenance tracking and compliance documentation
  • Identify opportunities to streamline operations through automation and improved processes Operational & Departmental Support
  • Collaborate closely with the Transportation Supervisor on routing, planning, and operational initiatives
  • Support communication systems for transportation-related information to families and staff
  • Assist with state reporting, audits, and regulatory documentation
  • Provide technical and systems support to transportation office staff

5. Cross-Department Coordination
  • Work with IT, Business Office, schools, and vendors to support transportation systems and initiatives
  • Assist in aligning transportation data and workflows with district-wide systems and processes

6. Other Duties
Perform other duties as assigned by the School Business Administrator
Salary Range:
$60,000 - $70,000
