Job description

About Us

The CDL Academy is a growing CDL training school dedicated to helping students earn their Commercial Driver's License through hands-on, professional instruction. We are committed to providing a safe, supportive learning environment while preparing students for successful careers in the trucking industry.

Position Summary

We are currently seeking a dependable and experienced Class A CDL Instructor to train students in manual transmission commercial vehicles. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, professional, patient, and enjoys helping others succeed.

Previous teaching experience is a plus but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Provide behind-the-wheel instruction in Class A manual transmission trucks.
  • Teach pre-trip inspections, backing maneuvers, shifting, road driving, and safe vehicle operation.
  • Prepare students for the Indiana CDL skills test.
  • Monitor student progress and provide coaching and feedback.
  • Complete required training documentation and attendance records.
  • Maintain a safe and professional training environment.
  • Perform daily vehicle inspections and report maintenance concerns.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid Class A CDL.
  • Minimum 2 years of Class A commercial driving experience.
  • Ability to operate and teach manual transmission commercial vehicles.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Current DOT Medical Card (or ability to obtain one).
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Reliable, professional, and punctual.

Schedule

  • Monday – Friday
  • 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Overtime opportunities available
  • Saturday work available

Compensation & Benefits

  • $21.00–$23.00 per hour, depending on experience.
