This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, which includes the ability to work from home, while also requiring to be in person as needed at our Lakeside and/or Clayton Corporate HQ campus locations in St. Louis, Missouri.
Responsibilities
We have an exciting opportunity in the IT Risk Management department for an Engineer 2, DBA/ETL position. The Risk Management team is focused on the development of products (UI and APIs) for the claims management lifecycle, including claim processing, vehicle repair and damage recovery processes. Risk Management continuously strives to ensure the alignment of projects and products with organizational goals and objectives.
The Engineer 2, DBA/ETL will play a key role in the day-to-day operation, stability, data movement, transformation, and support of our database environments. Here, you will focus on supporting application teams, maintaining database health, building and maintaining data pipelines and ensuring that database changes are implemented safely and efficiently across both on-prem and cloud environments. You will work with Oracle, PostgreSQL databases and tools including SAS Data Integration Studio and IBM Workload Scheduler, and collaborate with development teams to review database changes, troubleshoot issues, and support application releases.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement and support tasks such as patching coordination, backup and recovery procedures, database utilities, and data replication technologies for both PROD and NON-PROD environments
  • Assist with Data Guard implementation and support tasks
  • Modify database changes using PowerDesigner and creating sql scripts to implement
  • Facilitate corrections to the database infrastructure, and repairs to the system or database
  • Perform MySQL data audit scripts
  • Commit and manage database scripts in Bitbucket and pull approved changes for deployment in support of release and change management process
  • Review and approve application-driven database changes, to ensure compliance with performance, security, operational, and recoverability standards
  • Review SQL from application teams for correctness, efficiency, and safety
  • Develop and maintain a working understanding of the application data models, including core tables, relationships, data flows, and how applications use the schema, to support troubleshooting and change review
  • Monitor database health, performance, and capacity and act on alerts
  • Support application teams in troubleshooting database related issues; support release cycles and assist with database patching, upgrades, and routine maintenance activities; support backup, recovery, and restore validation activities
  • Facilitate user access management and support data security practices, including PII awareness and customer data redaction requests Available for on call rotation with team, tentatively every 2 weeks, as well as light on call after hours support, as determined by patching requests and incidents in team queue

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Proficient Oracle DBA knowledge including upgrades, patching, RMAN backup/recovery
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to transcend the organization with appropriate levels of detail
  • Strong teamwork, decision-making, documentation and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of Service Management best practices (Incident, Problem, and Change Management)

Qualifications
Required:
  • Must be presently authorized to work in the U.S. without a requirement for work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future
  • Must reside in St. Louis, Missouri, or immediate surrounding area
  • 3+ years of experience in an Oracle DBA or related role, and experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) version 10g or higher
  • 3+ years of experience with multiple facets of Oracle Data Guard, including physical and Active DG
  • 3+ years of AWS/Database using postgresSQL and mySQL
  • Experience with Unix scripting
  • Experience with SAS Data Integration Studio (SAS-DI)
  • SQL expertise in Oracle, Teradata, and IBM Workload Scheduler
  • Experience protecting Confidential and Highly Confidential database content
  • Must be committed to incorporating security into all decisions and daily job responsibilities

Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or related field preferred
  • Experience with Oracle 19C is preferred
  • Experience with one of more of the following databases: MSSQL Server, and/or Open database platforms such MariaDB, MySQL or PostgreSQL is preferred
  • Experience with Terraform and Bitbucket preferred
  • Knowledge of database encryption is preferred
  • Familiarity with cloud solutions like Amazon and Azure is preferred
  • Knowledge of PCI or other IT Security compliance standard is preferred
  • Knowledge of Data Governance best practices is preferred
