Description:
The School Counselor supports student success through academic planning, graduation monitoring, postsecondary readiness, and student intervention services. The Counselor serves as the primary resource for graduation requirements, transcript analysis, credit evaluation, and college, career, military, and workforce planning. This position collaborates closely with students, families, school leadership, and instructional staff to ensure students remain on track toward graduation and future success.
Requirements:
Education/Certification
- Bachelor's Degree required
- Valid School Counselor License/Certification preferred
- Master's Degree preferred
Experience
- Counseling, advising, or educational support experience preferred
- Virtual education experience preferred
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of graduation requirements and transcript analysis
- Understanding of college, career, military, and workforce pathways
- Strong organizational, documentation, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Responsibilities and Duties- Analyze transcripts and student records to determine graduation status and remaining requirements.
- Develop, maintain, and monitor student graduation plans.
- Provide academic, career, postsecondary, and goal-setting counseling.
- Assist students with college, trade school, military, certification, and workforce planning.
- Support student onboarding, intervention, retention, and success initiatives.
- Participate in Stay Strong, Finish Strong, and other student support processes.
- Collaborate with school staff to identify and support at-risk students.
- Maintain accurate documentation of counseling services, graduation planning, and student interventions.
- Communicate regularly with students, families, and staff regarding academic progress and graduation readiness.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
