Job description

We're looking for a Diesel Mechanic Trainer who will be responsible for training customer and TransChicago technicians on Class 5-8 equipment, diagnostics, and safety. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, certified technician who's passionate about teaching others and sharing their expertise in a hands-on, high-impact way.
Key Functions & Responsibilities:
  • Conduct training courses for both TransChicago technicians and technicians from other Freightliner dealers and TransChicago customers.
  • Partner with Service Managers and customers to understand training needs and align programs with business goals.
  • Organize, develop, or source training programs to improve course content to meet evolving technical standards.
  • Facilitate learning through a variety of delivery methods including classroom instruction, virtual training, and on-the-job coaching.
  • Provide constructive feedback and evaluations for participants and management.
  • Attend continuing education courses to learn about new products and repair/diagnostic techniques.
  • Represent TransChicago at industry events and career fairs.
  • Maintain in-house training facilities and equipment as needed.

Education and/or Required Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Expert Certification on Freightliner, M2, Detroit required.
  • ASE Master Certification preferred.
  • 1 year of related or industry experience required.
  • 5 years of Dealership experience preferred.
  • 2 years as a trainer with presentation of curriculum in a classroom setting preferred.
Compensation & Benefits:
  • Compensation: $70,000-$95,000. Compensation will be determined based on experience, competencies, certifications, and education.
