JOB DESCRIPTION
A Service or Utility Employee shall be able to satisfactorily perform a variety of service and maintenance labor duties, including but not limited to hoisting, fueling, lubricating, cleaning, and servicing transit coaches, support vehicles, equipment, and related units as assigned. Incumbents are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of Palm Tran buses, facilities, shops, buildings, grounds, and service areas while ensuring a safe and organized work environment. In addition, incumbents are responsible for operating Palm Tran transit buses and other agency vehicles as necessary to transport coaches between Palm Tran facilities, maintenance shops, fueling stations, wash bays, and other designated locations. Employees must safely operate agency vehicles in accordance with all applicable federal, state, local, and Palm Tran policies and procedures.
This is an entry-level classification. Incumbents do not supervise other employees but may provide guidance and direction to newly assigned employees regarding work assignments, equipment operation, safety procedures, and departmental processes.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or an equivalent recognized certification/GED. Six (6) months of related work experience in a position successfully performing janitorial and/or industrial cleaning duties or a position responsible for the cleaning, maintenance and/or servicing of a variety of vehicles. Ability to lift 50 lbs. A valid CDL with Passenger (P) endorsement OR CDL is required. Candidates hired without a valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A or B and/or the required Passenger (P) endorsement will be provided employer-paid training to obtain the required CDL and Passenger (P) endorsement. A copy of your current driver's license must be included with the application. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A or B with Passenger (P) endorsement or have the ability to obtain the required license and endorsement within sixty (60) days of employment, failure to obtain the required driver license within sixty (60) days may be subject to termination.
PREFERENCES
Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or B with Passenger (P) endorsement OR CDL Learner's Permit with the Passenger (P) endorsement. Transit bus or heavy equipment driving or mechanical experience.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
ENVIRONMENTAL/ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS
Exposure to extreme noise when interfacing within the shop. Decibel range of 85+ duration on an occasional level. Exposure to fumes/orders and chemical hazards when out in the field or shop.
