Position Summary
Plan, coordinate and implement all in-house training and educational activities for maintenance personnel in the Transit Department; provide training on a variety of preventative and diagnostic maintenance processes and procedures, conduct research into specialized training classes and evaluate current training programs and perform a variety of professional and technical tasks in support of assigned area of responsibility.
This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug/alcohol testing.

Essential and Supplemental Functions
SSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essential functions may include, but are not limited to thefunctions listed below. Must be able to perform the essential functions of thejob with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  1. Coordinate training and educational activities for transit maintenance personnel; provide training on a variety of preventative and diagnostic maintenance processes and procedures.
  2. Recommend and assist in the implementation of goals and objectives; establish schedules and methods for providing training services; implement policies and procedures.
  3. Monitor program performance; recommend and implement modifications to systems and procedures.
  4. Research and plan specialized training activities, and classes including in-service training to provide to the department staff; coordinate, schedule and conduct training activities.
  5. Promote and coordinate specific activities within the training program including course schedules and any specialized training programs being offered; prepare program event and material including flyers, schedules of events, pamphlets and brochures.
  6. May plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, review and participate in the work of lower lever staff.
  7. May be required to schedule usage of meeting facilities for activities including training events, classes, and activities; provide information and assistance to users of facilities.
  8. Maintain records and develop reports concerning new or ongoing programs and program effectiveness; maintain records for training event attendance; maintain and file training reports; prepare statistical reports as required.
  9. May prepare budget considerations; submit budget recommendations; monitor expenditures.
  10. May be required to provide specialized training regarding the ADA population and comprehensive CDL training.
SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Monitor program compliance with laws, rules and regulations related to provision of training and related services.
  2. Develop survey instruments; conduct surveys of program participants to determine participant needs; interpret and record survey results; implement program changes in response to results.
  3. Maintain awareness of new developments in the field of organizational training; incorporate new developments as appropriate into programs.
  4. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
  5. May be responsible for supervising shops and personnel in the absence of Transit Supervisors.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements
Related education and experience may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in organizational training, adult education or a related field and;
Three (3) years of experience on maintenance and repair of class 1 thru 8 vehicles to include one (1) year organizational training and;
One (1) year direct supervisory or technical lead experience in an administrative capacity.
HVAC maintenance and repair on class 1 thru 8 vehicles experience preferred.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License (Class A or B) for the past two (2) continuous years.
Possession of a valid City of Albuquerque Operator Permit (COP) within 90 days from date of hire.
Possession of a valid AC Recovery certification within 90 days from date of hire.
Possession of a valid Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) license within 90 days from date of hire.

Environmental:
Office environment; may include field environment with exposure to noise, gas, fumes and inclement weather conditions.
Physical:
Essential and supplemental functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting or standing for prolonged periods of time.
