Job description

Custom Assembly, Inc. is looking for a Training Specialist to help develop confident, capable, and safety-focused employees within our warehousing operations.


This is not a desk-only training position. The Training Specialist will spend significant time on the warehouse floor working directly with new and existing employees to teach processes, reinforce expectations, evaluate understanding, and help employees become successful in their roles.


The ideal candidate is patient, approachable, organized, and comfortable explaining processes in different ways depending on how someone learns. They should also be willing to speak up when they see a safety, quality, or training concern.


What You'll Do

  • Coordinate and conduct training for new warehouse employees
  • Provide hands-on instruction for job-specific processes, equipment, safety procedures, and quality expectations
  • Guide new employees through their initial training period and help prepare them to work independently
  • Evaluate employee understanding and identify areas where additional training is needed
  • Conduct refresher and remedial training for existing employees when necessary
  • Reinforce safe work practices and proper product-handling procedures
  • Maintain accurate training records and documentation
  • Work with supervisors and management to identify training needs and performance gaps
  • Provide feedback to supervisors regarding employee training progress
  • Help ensure training is consistent across employees, shifts, and departments
  • Assist with developing and updating training materials, procedures, checklists, and work instructions
  • Support the rollout of new processes, equipment, procedures, or customer requirements
  • Observe warehouse operations and identify opportunities for additional training or process improvement
  • Help create an environment where employees feel comfortable asking questions and learning


What We’re Looking For

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Associate degree, technical training, or coursework in education, training, business, operations, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, logistics, or similar operational environment
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience training, onboarding, coaching, mentoring, or leading employees preferred
  • Previous experience providing hands-on job instruction strongly preferred
  • Strong verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to explain procedures clearly and adapt training methods to different learning styles
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to document training completion, employee progress, and areas requiring additional development
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback professionally and confidently
  • Basic computer proficiency, including experience with email, Microsoft Office, or similar programs
  • Ability to learn and teach warehouse management systems and internal procedures
  • Ability to work on the warehouse floor and remain active throughout the shift
  • Forklift or material-handling equipment experience preferred
  • Experience creating training materials, work instructions, or standard operating procedures is a plus
