Job description

We are seeking a Program and Technical Assistant for the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Training Program. This person will carry out a wide variety of administrative tasks to support students, staff, and activities and to maintain office workflow and quality standards at Passaic County Community College’s Public Safety Academy in Wayne.

This is a part time, hourly position.

Example of Duties:

  • Perform routine office functions to support departmental operations
  • Communicate with students, staff, visitors, and members of the public via telephone, electronic media, and in person to provide information regarding the program, requirements, and policies
  • Serve as a point of contact and liaison to other College departments
  • Register students for courses
  • Maintain program records
  • Perform data entry, maintain program databases, and operate computer software programs in use at the College; review data for accuracy
  • Run office reports as needed and requested
  • Work with department staff to organize and process departmental paperwork including course rosters, purchase requisitions, purchase orders, invoices, inventories, and other documents
  • Maintain staff and departmental calendars and schedules; schedule meetings and appointments
  • Maintain file systems, logs and records in electronic and hard copy formats, including confidential files
  • Assist staff to obtain and compile information required for internal and external reports
  • Assist with maintaining office inventory
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required; Associate degree preferred
  • Minimum of two years’ work experience in an administrative office required
  • Must be skilled in the use of Microsoft Office software programs
  • Knowledge of or experience in Emergency Medical Services a plus
  • Proven ability to work with a high degree of accuracy in a busy office environment
  • Ability to work independently and in diverse teams in a cooperative and professional manner
  • Proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality

The completion of a background check will be required for the selected candidate.

Compensation: Compensation is determined by a variety of criteria, including but not limited to, previous relevant experience, education level, and certifications. The minimum hourly pay for this position is $16.
