Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and experienced Deputy Academy Program Manager to support the management and oversight of all contract personnel assigned to the FAA Academy. This role works in close partnership with the Program Manager to ensure operational effectiveness, quality performance, and alignment with program objectives.
The individual in this role will serve as a key on-site leader, responsible for managing day-to-day operations and personnel at the FAA Academy. This position requires full-time, on-site presence in Oklahoma City, OK.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in managing programs or organizations of similar size, scope, and complexity.
    • Prior management experience in an Air Traffic Control facility, or in a comparable operational environment, is required.
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Business Management or a related field from an accredited college or university.
    • In lieu of a bachelor's degree, 15 years of relevant management experience is required.
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • Proven leadership skills with experience managing on-site teams in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.
    • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently while maintaining close coordination with senior leadership.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
  • Experience supporting government contracts or working in federally regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with training program management or academic support operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist the Program Manager in leading and managing all contract support personnel at the FAA Academy.
  • Oversee daily operations and ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery in alignment with program standards and contractual requirements.
  • Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for contract performance and staff management.
  • Monitor team performance, resolve operational issues, and maintain effective communication with stakeholders.
  • Support workforce planning, training coordination, and staff development initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols, performance metrics, and compliance requirements.
  • Step in as acting Program Manager when needed, ensuring continuity of leadership and operations.
