Job description

Willdan Lighting & Electric currently has an opening for a Multifamily Energy Efficiency Program Manager in our New York, NY office. The candidate must be able to work in a collaborative environment with engineering, program operations, sales/outreach, data analytics teams, and primarily with client stakeholders.

This role is responsible for managing program pipeline, ensuring delivery of energy efficiency savings, maintaining strong client relationships, and leading program teams to achieve performance goals.

Responsibilities

  • Drive all aspects of program delivery including program management, contractor recruitment and training, outreach, QA/QC and inspections, energy engineering coordination, data management, reporting, and financial tracking.
  • Manage and monitor the program pipeline to ensure consistent project flow, timely execution, and achievement of savings targets.
  • Lead the program team by setting direction, providing guidance, and tracking performance to ensure successful outcomes for the Company and its clients.
  • Serve as a primary interface with the client, providing regular updates on program performance, addressing issues, and ensuring alignment with client expectations.
  • Coordinate across internal teams (engineering, outreach, data, QA/QC, and operations) to ensure effective program execution and delivery.
  • Support development and implementation of short-term and long-term strategies to improve program operations, customer experience, and overall performance.
  • Provide input into evaluation and refinement of processes, procedures, forecasting, and delivery approaches.
  • Develop and utilize tools to actively monitor program performance, including savings, budgets, costs, schedules, risks, and opportunities.
  • Shepherd projects through the full program lifecycle and drive resolution of issues that may impact delivery.
  • Anticipate program needs and proactively address potential delays or bottlenecks.
  • Foster a high-performance team environment focused on accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration.
  • Coordinate with industry partners and stakeholders to support program success.
  • Perform additional duties as required to meet program objectives.

Requirements

  • Strong technical and conceptual understanding of multifamily building science, energy efficiency measures, and utility energy efficiency programs.
  • Experience managing program pipelines and delivering energy savings targets.
  • Experience working with utility clients in regulated environments (NYC/ConEd preferred).
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, mentor, and motivate team members.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including client-facing presentations.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to identify value, improve processes, and drive performance.
  • Ability to perform complex analysis and understand industry and regulatory trends.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities.
  • Adaptability and ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Experience in LMI (low-to-moderate income) programs is a plus.

Degree & Certification Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental/Economic policy, Business, or a related field.
  • Master's degree a plus.
  • PE, CEM, or other relevant certification preferred.
