Position Overview

Recreation Program Management (RPM) is looking for a dependable, enthusiastic Program Assistant to support our Homework Help program and community special events.

This position is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with school-age children, creating a positive and welcoming environment, and being involved in community programming. The Program Assistant will help facilitate structured homework sessions during the week and assist with special events and activities at various off-site locations.

The ideal candidate is organized, responsible, friendly, and comfortable working with youth while maintaining a safe, structured, and encouraging environment.

Qualifications
  • Must be at least 16 years old
  • Experience working with schoolage children is strongly preferred
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to travel to and assist with offsite community events
  • Reliable transportation preferred
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred, or willingness to obtain certification after hire
  • Positive, dependable, and professional attitude
  • Key Responsibilities
  • Homework Help Program
  • Facilitate structured homework help sessions for schoolage youth
  • Assist participants with homework and assignments in areas such as reading, math, writing, and science
  • Create a quiet, supportive, and productive learning environment
  • Encourage participants to stay focused and actively participate
  • Monitor attendance and maintain accurate participation records
  • Prepare and organize materials and resources for each session
  • Recognize when participants may need additional assistance and communicate concerns to the Program Manager
  • Provide updates regarding participant progress, behavior, or concerns
  • Special Events & Community Programs

  • Represent RPM in a professional and positive manner at offsite events and community activities
  • Assist with event setup, activities, participant supervision, and cleanup
  • Help prepare and transport event materials and supplies
  • Assist with activity facilitation and event logistics
  • Follow all RPM safety procedures and program policies
  • Monitor participants and help maintain a safe environment
  • Communicate any incidents, concerns, or needs to the Program Manager promptly
  • Customer Service & Participant Engagement
  • Welcome participants, parents, and guests in a friendly and professional manner
  • Build positive relationships with youth and families
  • Encourage participation and create an inclusive environment
  • Listen to participant and parent questions or concerns and respond appropriately
  • Maintain a positive, patient, and encouraging attitude

  • Represent RPM professionally when interacting with residents, families, staff, and community members

  • Supervisory Responsibilities

    This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities. The Program Assistant will assist with monitoring and supervising youth participants during Homework Help sessions and special events.

    Physical RequirementsThis position requires the ability to:
