Job description

Training Operations Manager

Location: Phoenix, Arizona
Employment Type: Long-Term Contract
Client Environment: Semiconductor / Advanced Manufacturing
Start Date: As Soon As Possible

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly organized, analytical, and detail-oriented Training Operations Manager to support a large and growing technical training operation within a global semiconductor manufacturing environment.

This is not a traditional Training Coordinator position. The role requires someone who can manage complex training requests and projects that may span several months to more than a year, with numerous stakeholders, dependencies, follow-ups, data requirements, scheduling considerations, and administrative steps from the initial request through training delivery and final billing.

The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys solving complex problems, putting multiple pieces together, tracking details over long periods of time, and taking ownership of requests through completion.

This individual will support a large technical training center serving internal and external customers and coordinating training across multiple product groups, instructors, locations, and global resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage complex training requests from initial intake through scheduling, delivery, completion, documentation, and billing.
  • Coordinate multiple concurrent training programs and requests that may remain active for 3–12+ months.
  • Serve as a central point of coordination among customers, instructors, subject matter experts, training leadership, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Research available training solutions and determine appropriate options based on customer requirements, product type, location, instructor availability, and other considerations.
  • Coordinate training that may involve resources or participants across the United States and international locations, including Asia.
  • Track numerous milestones, dependencies, follow-ups, approvals, payment requirements, training credits, schedules, and outstanding actions.
  • Maintain accurate records and training information within the Cornerstone LMS and related systems.
  • Pull, combine, analyze, and reconcile data from multiple LMS reports and other data sources.
  • Use Microsoft Excel to organize and analyze large amounts of information, including XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas, filters, and other data-management functions.
  • Identify missing information, discrepancies, scheduling conflicts, and potential issues before they affect training delivery.
  • Maintain detailed trackers and ensure outstanding items are consistently followed through to resolution.
  • Communicate with customers and internal stakeholders regarding training status, requirements, scheduling, changes, and next steps.
  • Navigate situations where established processes may not completely address the request and collaborate with leadership and subject matter experts to develop appropriate solutions.
  • Research unfamiliar products, training requirements, or processes and identify the appropriate resources or SMEs needed to move requests forward.
  • Support a fast-growing technical training operation with approximately 40 instructors and multiple product types being consolidated into a centralized training environment.
  • Continuously look for opportunities to improve reporting, tracking, workflows, and administrative efficiency.

What We're Looking For

This position requires someone who can see both the big picture and the smallest details.

The successful candidate will be:

  • Exceptionally organized and able to manage a large number of moving pieces simultaneously.
  • Highly detail-oriented and thorough.
  • Persistent with follow-up and comfortable owning open items for extended periods of time.
  • Analytical and comfortable researching information and working through unfamiliar or ambiguous situations.
  • Able to manage long-cycle projects where progress may depend on multiple stakeholders and changing requirements.
  • Comfortable working in an environment where every request may be different.
  • Flexible and able to exercise sound judgment when a situation does not fit neatly into an established process.
  • Proactive in identifying who to contact or where to find information when an immediate answer is not available.
  • Able to prioritize competing requests and deadlines without losing track of details.
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with a broader team.
  • Customer-focused with strong written and verbal communication skills.

Required / Preferred Experience

  • Previous experience in training operations, learning and development operations, program coordination, project coordination, technical training, customer training, or a similarly complex operational role.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including experience with:
    • XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP
    • Pivot tables
    • Formulas and data manipulation
    • Combining information from multiple reports/data sources
    • Sorting, filtering, and reconciling data
  • Experience working with an LMS; Cornerstone experience is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects, requests, or workflows that involve multiple stakeholders and extended timelines.
  • Experience in a technical, engineering, semiconductor, manufacturing, or similarly complex environment is preferred.
  • Experience supporting customer-facing training programs is a plus.
  • Global or multi-site coordination experience is a plus.

Education

A bachelor's degree is preferred but not required.

Relevant experience, demonstrated technical aptitude, strong organizational skills, and the ability to successfully manage complex workflows will be strongly considered in place of a degree.

The Right Mindset

We are looking for more than someone who can schedule classes or complete administrative tasks.

The right person will be comfortable receiving a request that does not have an obvious answer, researching the situation, identifying the right people and resources, developing options, and then staying with that request until every piece is completed.

Some assignments can be resolved quickly. Others may require months of coordination and follow-up.

Success in this role requires someone who can connect the dots, manage the details, anticipate the next step, and consistently drive work to completion.

Work Environment

  • Position is based in Phoenix, Arizona.
  • Onsite presence is required.
  • Initial interviews may be conducted remotely.
  • This is anticipated to be a long-term contract opportunity with the potential to grow alongside the training organization.
  • The organization is continuing to expand and centralize technical training capabilities, creating an opportunity for this individual to grow with the team.
