Job description

ABOUT BAD MARKETING:

We're a team of 130+ passionate leaders and creatives who have worked diligently to make BAD Marketing one of the largest and most robust Growth Marketing Agencies in the world. At the core of our philosophy is the belief that excellence stems from a united team working toward a common objective: to not only help our clients grow profitably but also to provide them with an experience they can't find anywhere else.

We specialize in local lead generation, e-commerce, and information marketing, catering to clients that span from auto and local shop owners to online consumer product brand owners, online gurus selling courses or coaching, and more.

Our approach to success involves more than just Bold And Disruptive strategies. We invest in our team through extensive training, continuous support for growth and learning, and the cultivation of a happy and confident company culture. For us, finding fulfillment in your career is just as crucial as excelling in it.

ABOUT THIS POSITION:

We're looking for a direct response copywriter who can own creative strategy, ad writing, and email within a client pod in our info/coaching marketing division.

You'll be embedded in a cross-functional pod alongside a strategist, media buyer, and PM -  writing ad scripts, body copy, emails, and hooks for clients spending $100k-$1M+ monthly on ads. But this isn't a "write what you're told" role. You're expected to drive the creative strategy process for your pod -  analyzing what's working, understanding why it's working, developing new concepts grounded in data, and coming to creative calls with prepared ideas and reasoning. The strategist collaborates and approves, but you lead on what gets tested and why.

You'll also write email copy within frameworks established by a Senior Copywriter -  automation sequences, promotional campaigns, nurture flows. And you'll be pulling from messaging foundations (avatar research, messaging bibles, swipe files) that exist to make your creative sharper and more grounded. You're not starting from scratch on every ad -  you're building on a strategic base.

If you're the type of copywriter who wants to understand why winners win -  not just that they win -  and you want to operate as a strategic partner rather than a production resource, this role is built for that.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE:
  • You come to creative strategy calls with prepared concepts, data analysis, and clear reasoning for what to test next -  not waiting for direction
  • You can explain why a winning ad works -  the hook, the awareness level, the belief shift, the lead type -  not just that it performed well
  • Your first drafts are close to final -  strategists are refining your copy, not rewriting it
  • You know what's winning and losing across your clients without being asked -  creative trackers and performance data are part of your daily workflow
  • Iterations are based on insight -  what messaging element is driving performance, what objection isn't being handled, what awareness level to target next -  not surface-level changes
  • Your ads are grounded in the messaging foundations built by the Senior Copywriter -  not improvised from scratch every time
  • The strategist trusts you to lead on creative so they can focus on client relationships and offer strategy
  • Email copy is executed cleanly within Senior-defined frameworks -  you understand the sequence purpose and write accordingly
A DAY IN THIS ROLE:

Morning: Review your assigned tasks and creative priorities. Check the creative tracker -  what launched? What's testing? Any winners or losers from the last batch? Review any feedback or revision requests.

Writing blocks: The bulk of your day is writing -  ad scripts, body copy, leads, emails. You're working from messaging foundations and your own performance analysis, not briefs handed to you fully formed.

Performance check: Review creative trackers, Hyros, and reporting data. Know what's winning and losing. This isn't an occasional check-in -  it's a daily habit that drives your next round of concepts.

Creative strategy calls: Weekly with your pod. You come prepared with analysis and concepts -  what's working, what's not, what we should iterate on, what net-new ideas are worth testing and why. You drive this conversation.

Throughout the day:

  • Fill out creative briefs with strategic reasoning (angle, awareness level, lead type, hypothesis) -  not just the copy
  • Keep the creative tracker updated with batch details before submitting
  • Coordinate with designers and editors on video scripts and static direction
  • Communicate with your strategist and media buyer on creative status and pipeline health

End of day: You can answer: What's the status of my active batches? What's winning and losing for each client? What's next and why?

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 2-3+ years of direct response copywriting experience; info/coaching space preferred
  • Understanding of awareness levels, belief shifts, and persuasion principles -  you know why messaging works, not just what to write
  • Experience writing ad copy across formats: video scripts, static copy, body copy, hooks, headlines
  • Ability to analyze creative performance and iterate based on data -  not just "try something different" but "here's what I think is working and what to test next"
  • Experience with email copy execution -  writing within defined frameworks and understanding sequence purpose
  • Comfortable with performance data -  creative trackers, attribution platforms, and reporting tools are part of your workflow, not something you avoid
  • Strong grasp of avatar psychology and offer positioning -  you understand the audience you're writing for at a meaningful level
  • Can take loose direction ("we need to test a new angle for this audience segment") and return with developed concepts backed by reasoning
  • Comfortable working within structured systems -  creative trackers, naming conventions, brief templates, and approval workflows
  • Collaborative by default -  you communicate proactively about status, pipeline, and performance insights without being asked
YOU'LL THRIVE HERE IF:
  • You're energized by understanding why copy works -  awareness levels, belief shifts, persuasion principles -  not just writing what sounds good
  • You want to drive creative strategy, not just execute someone else's ideas
  • You're curious about performance data and want your work to be measured -  wins and losses both teach you something
  • You can take loose direction and come back with developed concepts and clear reasoning
  • You're comfortable pushing back when briefs are unclear or strategy doesn't make sense
  • You want to be a strategic partner to your pod, not a production resource
  • You communicate proactively -  you'd rather over-communicate on status and pipeline than let things slip
THIS MAY NOT BE FOR YOU IF:
  • You prefer detailed briefs that tell you exactly what to write
  • You see copywriting as creative expression rather than strategic persuasion
  • You're not interested in performance data or iteration -  you'd rather write and move on
  • You're uncomfortable with direct feedback on your work
  • You want to write in isolation without worrying about how creative is performing
  • You prefer to wait for direction rather than bring your own ideas

BENEFITS:

  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance plans (US Residents Only)
  • PTO
  • Paid US Holidays
  • Opportunities for professional development and advancement within the organization.
  • A collaborative and innovative work environment with a focus on creativity and results.

ADDITIONAL:

  • 9AM - 6PM EST
  • Remote
  • W2 (US Residents Only)

OUR CORE VALUES:

  • BE BAD
  • PLAY TO WIN
  • EXTREME OWNERSHIP
  • SOLUTIONS NOT PROBLEMS
  • BEST IDEA WINS
  • ALWAYS BE GROWING
  • NOBODY IS BIGGER THAN THE TEAM
