SUMMARY OF POSITION:
This position provides general new hire training and job-specific training to existing employees in the plant. This position is also responsible for standard work audits, Job Instruction training and audits and remedial training. This position serves to develop new hires and existing employees through training and is a contributing factor in retention through the on-boarding process.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Train new hires in general training related to MI and Product Knowledge as well as Continuous Improvement tools
  • Train plant new hires on MI product, processes, quality and safe product handling using the Job Instruction (JI) method
  • Train existing employees on job specific processes and procedures.
  • Demonstrates procedures being taught
  • Provide one-on-one & group training
  • Coordinates training and participates in material updates as necessary.
  • Conduct Standard Work audits and provides corrective feedback to employees, leads and supervisors when required
  • Make required updates to Standard Work, maintain document control for the official Standard Work documents and provide reports as required
  • Train new and existing JI Trainers, conducts regular audits of the JI process and maintain records.
  • Reflect MI business values and the MI Philosophy in all business transactions
  • Manage and maintain in-house Lab training facilities and equipment
  • Lead or Participate in Continuous Improvement activities as required
  • Additional duties to include some quality inspections

LEVEL OF SUPERVISION:
  • No supervisory duties

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • 2+ years of experience in custom manufacturing and warehouse processes
  • Training experience and certified JI Trainer preferred
  • Demonstrated understanding of excellent customer service
  • Proficient with Excel spreadsheets
  • Self-motivated and regulated
  • Willing to participate in production, safety, and quality meetings
  • General understanding of lean principles and tools

EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATION/FORMAL TRAINING:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 4 year degree - Preferred

ESSENTIAL ABILITIES:
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, leads and employees.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Computer literacy with the ability to learn new computer software programs
  • Strong advocate and proponent of MI to new employees.
  • Knowledge of adult learning methodology.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Capable of lifting 20-50lbs, as needed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Work performed indoors in a production floor environment as well as in a warehouse type facility with temperatures subject to normal environmental conditions.
  • Work surfaces are primarily concrete with anti-fatigue mats provided where feasible. Personnel will stand while performing their respective job functions, for up to 12 hours a day.
