Job description

Training & Development Specialist

24 months contract

Moline, IL 61265

Role Summary

Owns and manages the training and development program for the Modern Work & Citizen AI portfolio — spanning Microsoft Office 365, Copilot, Power Platform, SharePoint, and broader modern-workspace skilling. A well-seasoned senior individual contributor who operates independently against defined goals and collaborates closely with the existing training specialist, communications, HR, the enablement team, and external learning vendors. The scope covers the full modern workspace, not AI alone.

Key Responsibilities

  • Course & program design — Design and develop end-to-end learning paths and courses for Modern Work and Citizen AI enablement (Microsoft Office 365, Copilot, Power Platform, SharePoint, and related modern-workspace skills); incorporate appropriate methodologies, assessments, and multi-channel delivery across internal and vendor platforms; and develop high-quality content that drives engagement and measurable capability growth.
  • Delivery & impact evaluation — Coordinate and deliver training programs across regions and vendor cohorts; guide and advise learners; and evaluate not just completion but downstream impact — following up with participants to assess what changed in their day-to-day work and feeding those insights back into program design.
  • Stakeholder engagement & gap analysis — Engage business-area leaders and HR partners to clarify enablement priorities; gather data on current AI and modern-work competency and adoption; identify capability gaps against target levels; and secure agreement on goals and outcomes for each intervention.
  • Tooling configuration & process — Configure and maintain the learning tooling that supports these paths — working with HR to set up systems such as JDU/Compass, and with the landing-zone team to build and enable learning paths as they are created — and establish and monitor the operating procedures behind program rollout.
  • Program collateral & communications — Partner with the communications lead and design/brand resources to produce program collateral, drive awareness of available programs, and publish enablement content on-brand.
  • Vendor relationship & queries — Serve as the day-to-day point of contact for external training vendors — owning the relationship and cohort scheduling week to week — and field the growing volume of organic enablement questions from across the organization, escalating where interpretation or a decision is needed.
  • Adoption data & insights — Analyze participation data — who is participating in which programs by region, and program effectiveness — to surface trends and provide targeted feedback to stakeholders on where to focus communication and enablement effort.
  • Platform & vendor evaluation — Evaluate the learning-platform and vendor landscape (e.g., Pluralsight, Microsoft Learn, Changing Social, and others), weigh drawbacks and fit, and form a clear recommendation on what best suits our needs; design and apply assessments to measure learner competency and progression along each path.
  • Self-development & staying current — Develop own capabilities through ongoing training, coaching, and relevant accreditation; and stay current on Microsoft 365, Copilot, agent/AI capabilities, and modern-work learning best practices through continuous education and industry media to keep the enablement approach ahead of the curve.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Independent operator. Comfortable owning a program end to end against defined goals with minimal oversight, while collaborating with an existing training specialist.
  • Learning-path & curriculum design. Background building learning paths and curricula, with a clear point of view on how assessments are best used to measure progression.
  • Opinionated platform evaluator. Able to weigh competing learning platforms and vendors and recommend the best fit for the organization, with reasoning.
  • Outcome- and impact-focused. Measures behavior change and business impact after training, not just course completion.
  • Communications- and adoption-minded. Knows how to drive awareness and uptake of programs across a large, multi-region organization.

Core Competencies

  • Communicates effectively — delivers multi-mode communications tuned to different audiences.
  • Manages complexity — makes sense of high-volume, sometimes contradictory information to solve problems.
  • Ensures accountability — holds self and others accountable to commitments.
  • Collaborates — builds partnerships to meet shared objectives.
  • Drives engagement — creates a climate that motivates people to do their best.
  • Optimizes work processes — focuses on the most effective processes and continuous improvement.

Key Skills & Experience

Skills & knowledge

  • Learning & talent development, and LMS / e-learning / computer-based training
  • Instructional design, curriculum development, and assessment design
  • Data collection and analysis — turning adoption and participation data into decisions
  • Planning, organizing, and prioritizing across multiple concurrent programs
  • Vendor and stakeholder management
  • Content creation and presentation (written, visual, video, and web) and strong verbal communication
  • Comfort with Microsoft 365 and Copilot; familiarity with AI/agent enablement is a strong plus

Education & experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Over 3 to 6 years of relevant experience — able to handle most situations independently and advise others

Some experience coordinating the work of others
