We’re seeking a Safety and Training Manager who champions a culture of safety and ensures the right policies, processes, and training programs are in place to maintain an accidentfree workplace.

What You'll Do:

As our Safety and Training Manager, you'll support both the manufacturing and distribution operations by:

  • Providing leadership, guidance, and technical expertise to all levels of the organization and playing a key role in fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
  • Planning, developing, implementing, and monitoring all hazard safety and employee job related machine and operations safety training programs within the manufacturing and distribution facilities in accordance with all regulatory and company requirements.
  • Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, Human Resources, and Quality to ensure safety considerations are integrated into daily operations and new processes.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are completed.  Manage (and deliver as applicable) all hazard safety and operational training for the Manufacturing and Distribution areas of the company to ensure new and existing employees in all positions receive thorough and up to date safety and operational training on the machines and processes they work with.  Sign off on new hire training for all manufacturing and distribution employees before the employee is cleared to work independently.
  • Oversee and deliver as applicable employee safety training programs including lock out tag out, machine guarding, hazard communication, PPE, emergency response, ergonomics, and GMPrelated safety topics.
  • Lead and document incident investigations, rootcause analyses, and corrective/preventive action plans.
  • Work with Human Resources to maintain all required safety documentation, including OSHA logs, training records, inspection reports, and compliance files as well as coordinate workers’ compensation reporting, returntowork programs, and modified duty assignments.
  • Serve as the primary contact for safety related regulatory agencies and support compliance audits and inspections.
  • Lead safety committee activities and promote employee engagement in safety initiatives.
  • Monitor safety performance metrics and prepare reports for management review.
  • Ensure emergency preparedness plans are current and conduct required drills.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, training, and operational performance.
  • With respect to quality and food safety training, this position will require only implementing and monitoring of job-related training into online training system.
  • You must be willing to alternate between production shifts regularly.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry best practices.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Mechanical and warehouse operation aptitude.
  • Ability to successfully handle multiple tasks at one time and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with safety management systems, training documentation platforms, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to lead investigations, implement corrective actions, and influence safe behaviors at all levels of the organization.

Education and Experience Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus a minimum of 3-5 years job-related safety experience in a production warehouse environment required. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Management, or a related field preferred. 
  • Experience developing and delivering safety training in a manufacturing environment.

Food Safety Responsibilities:

  • Works with Quality Assurance to ensure personnel safety procedures comply with GMP food safety requirements as set forth in the 21 CFR Part 117 and the SQF Code.
