The Cafe Coach (Store Manager) role exists as the main administrative presence in the Stone Creek Coffee Cafes. Our Cafe Coaches begin their journey with Stone Creek Coffee as a Cafe Coach in Training. Our Cafe Coach Trainee (CCT) program is designed to equip individuals to support larger teams and business units as they grow in their path. Coaches work with their team to ensure every person coming into a Stone Creek Coffee Cafe experiences "Remarkable Care."
Role Aspects
  • CONNECTING WITH CUSTOMERS - Cafe Coaches build a team that prioritizes the customer over all other work in the cafe. They endeavor to treat all guests with the same care and attention we would devote to our close friends and family. Cafe Coaches are also willing to participate in crucial conversations as needed to maintain a healthy cafe environment.
  • OFFERING SOLUTIONS - Cafe Coaches ensure their team cares for their customers by offering product recommendations as needed. They, alongside their team, go above and beyond to show the customer they are the most important thing.
  • COFFEE GEEK - Coffee Geeks believe that Remarkable Care starts with the cup. Everybody at Stone Creek should love coffee, possess contagious passion around it, and want to explore it deeper, while communicating opportunities to pursue continued coffee education opportunities to their team members as well.
  • CLEAN SPACE - Each cafe's Cafe Coach works alongside their team to provide a world-class environment for our customers and coworkers. They support developing systems and utilize tools provided to keep everything neat, clean and beautifully stocked with fresh products.
  • APPRECIATION - Cafe Coaches possess a genuine disposition of thankfulness. As our front-line leaders, Cafe Coaches will coach and encourage thankfulness, ensuring their teams warmly and audibly thank every customer.
  • HANDLING DIFFICULT CONVERSATIONS - As team leaders, Cafe Coaches are able and willing to have difficult conversations about performance, compensation, workplace dynamics, etc with clarity and professionalism. In doing so, they create an environment where team members can gather around coffee, be their authentic selves, and celebrate each other's differences together.
  • KEEPING & CAPTURING COMMITMENTS - Cafe Coaches keep commitments or communicate in advance with an updated plan if unable to keep a commitment.
  • GIVING FEEDBACK AND BUILDING GROWTH PLANS - Development plans for team members are crafted by their Cafe Coach. Regular, specific feedback is provided to team members by their Cafe Coach pertaining to their work quality, personal growth, and potential path through daily interactions and formal performance reviews.
  • BUDGET & METRIC TRACKING AND FOLLOW-UP - Cafe Coaches have a clear understanding of team financial success or struggles including their performance to their respective budget lines. They use this understanding to craft plans to improve their financial performance.

Training
Stone Creek Coffee has a paid training program for our Cafe Coaches which includes our Barista and Leadership training courses. We also offer ongoing training opportunities to ensure we never stop learning!
Compensation Structure
The Cafe Coach is a full-time salaried position eligible for the Stone Creek Coffee benefit package which includes:

Cafe Coach Trainees start as hourly employees beginning at $14.00 an hour plus tips. During CCT training participants are eligible for Stone Creek Coffee benefits including complimentary coffee, employee discounts, insurance, etc.
For CCTs who complete training and are placed in a Cafe of their own, we offer an annual salary beginning between $46,000 - $50,000; starting pay based on qualifications and experience.
All employees have the opportunity for a compensation review and discussion three times annually during Pay and Performance Reviews.
