Summary of the role:


Reporting to the Construction Manager, the Temporary Construction Assistant will assist Solar Installation Supervisors in all aspects of PV installations on rooftops, multifamily structures, and commercial projects. As a Construction Assistant, you will play a crucial role in transforming lives by providing clean energy solutions for income-qualified communities.


What you will be doing (essential responsibilities):


This is a 4-6 month temporary assignment

  • Conduct site visits to screen potential sites for solar access and safety concerns
  • Conduct energy efficiency audits
  • Pull permits in various cities for projects
  • Assist on-site on installations of solar electric systems with crews of volunteers and/or job trainees
  • Assist installation supervisors in loading and unloading equipment
  • Make equipment pickups and handle receiving
  • Participate in design and installation meetings
  • Compile project documentation for pre/post installation
  • Project commissioning: ensuring that all systems are installed, tested, evaluated for performance, and interconnected according to the requirements
  • Help maintain job site safety by identifying hazards, ensuring workers have necessary equipment, conducting regular inspections, and planning for emergencies.
  • Lead warehouse inventory management and organization
  • Other job duties include hardware store runs, answering homeowner and volunteer questions, and generally participating in activities vital to make solar happen for income-qualified communities/families
  • Treat clients, contractors, and co-workers, and members of the public with kindness and respect
  • Comply with all company policies, including company safety policy




Requirements:

Your areas of knowledge and expertise...


  • Experience in solar/general construction skills
  • Excellent communication skills (Proven ability to work with and communicate well with diverse groups)
  • Ability to occasionally ascend/descend a ladder to work on PV installations
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Ability to lift, move, transport, position, put, install or remove equipment up to 50lbs
  • Ability to be exposed to outdoor work environments and weather conditions
  • Flexibility and willingness to embrace change, focus and contribute
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed
  • Must have a valid driver's license with no history of serious traffic violations, accidents, or points on their record
  • Willingness to travel to sites throughout the region (some travel outside the region may be needed)
  • General digital literacy in Microsoft Office, Google Suite

Compensation:


The compensation range for this TEMPORARY fulltime position is $21.00-$27.00 per hour. The base pay that will actually be offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location, experience and take into account internal equity.
