Job description

Job Summary

RN Orthopedics โ€“ Provide nursing care to patients in the Orthopaedic Clinic at Lakeside Hospital, LCMC Health. Work with multiple providers and clinics.

Responsibilities
  • Prioritize, coordinate, and delegate care touchpoints for patients.
  • Maintain and advocate for a safe environment and follow infection control procedures.
  • Participate in quality improvement and regulatory standard protocols.
  • Assist patients with arrival, preparation for examination, treatment and/or procedures.
  • Record vital signs, recognize and respond to abnormal findings or emergencies, and report to the appropriate medical provider.
  • Perform patient procedures as instructed and facilitate smooth patient exit from clinic.
  • Administer prescribed medications and/or vaccinations, maintain medication inventory, and dispose of expired medications.
  • Gather appropriate clinical documentation and obtain medical records when needed.
  • Document clinical tasks, testing and procedures in the patient medical record.
  • Navigate electronic medical records to obtain or update patient information and schedule follow-up appointments.
  • Advise and consult with supervisor when unable to complete assignments safely.
  • Initiate patient and family education using appropriate resources and continuum of care services.
  • Assist other team members when appropriate.
Qualifications
  • Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
  • Prior Orthopaedic Clinic RN experience is preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
