Job description

The Postdoctoral Fellow will support an NIH R16-funded research project. The position focuses on data analytics, computational genomics, machine learning, and the application of metagenomics to dental diseases. The Postdoctoral Fellow will work closely with the PI on collaborative, interdisciplinary projects and contribute to student training, while advancing Meharry's mission in biomedical research and workforce development. The position provides access to state-of-the-art computational infrastructure and offers opportunities for career development, publications, and grant participation.
Essential Functions (Principal Duties and Job Responsibilities):
  • Conduct analysis of data generated from R16-funded research projects (25%)
  • Develop and apply AI/ML methods to biomedical data, including pipeline development (25%)
  • Participate in collaborative research activities, including manuscript preparation and grant development (25%)
  • Assist the PI in workshops, mentoring, and training of students and junior trainees (25%)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Solid computing background or data experience, e.g., supercomputing and machine learning;
  • Good programming skills in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, R, etc).
  • A good understanding of genetics or molecular biology is a plus, but not required.
