Job description

A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Yuuta Imoto in the Department of Developmental Neurobiology at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
The Imoto lab uses super-resolution microscopy and electron-microscopy to investigate rapid synaptic organelle dynamics during neurotransmission. The Fellow will design and conduct experiments aimed at identifying molecular mechanisms by which endocytic structures remove damaged proteins in human physiology and neurodegenerative disorders.
Successful candidates will have:
  • A PhD in cell biology, neuroscience, or related discipline
  • The ability to independently design and execute experiments and interpret data
  • Expertise in at least one of the following areas:
    • Super-resolution imaging, including Stimulated Emission Depletion (STED) and Stochastic Optical Reconstruction Microscopy (STORM)
    • Cryo-electron tomography
    • Imaging data science and AI-based analysis
  • A strong record of contributions to peer-reviewed research publications.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as MATLAB and Python, and the ability to work with large imaging datasets
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to prepare high-quality manuscripts for publication
