POSITION OVERVIEW

We have an immediate need for a Relay Settings Engineer with experience in the protection and control of electrical networks. We are addressing the challenges of today and tomorrow on topics such as the high penetration of DERs, the transition to IEC 61850, grid analytics, SMU applications, fire risk mitigation, compliance, and continued AMI deployments, as well as other grid modernization topics.

This is an important technical position within Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group (QISG) and is reserved for people with technical skills and the ability to support projects. At QISG, Engineers of all levels are encouraged to start building a strong industry presence and aim at becoming recognized experts in their area in the future.


  • Design protective relay and control settings by applying principles and techniques of electrical power engineering.
  • Model power systems and protection schemes and perform analyses and studies.
  • Perform arc-flash studies in accordance with industry standards.
  • Assist in writing proposals.
  • Support projects.
  • Further develop Project Management skills.
  • Present individual and overall Danovo Energy Solutions competencies and offerings to customers.
  • Be a team player, promoting overall Danovo Energy Solutions.
  • Keep abreast of related technical developments in the field.

Working Conditions

Working conditions are typical of a professional office environment. When working in field or laboratory settings, the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and completion of additional safety training may be required. The role may involve lifting and carrying equipment, standing for extended periods, and working in varying weather conditions. Job duties may require the ability to sit, stand, kneel, bend, and perform other physical movements associated with the work. Specific vision abilities (such as close vision, distance vision, color vision, or depth perception) may be required depending on the assigned job duties. Education & Experience

  • Technical expertise in at least one area of the utility industry as demonstrated by previous project experience or peer-reviewed publications, involvement in technical societies, and/or patents
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or another relevant technical field
  • 3+ years of experience with
  • Design of protective relay settings
  • Microprocessor-based programmable logic relays
  • Modelling of protection schemes
  • Performing coordination and fault studies
  • Interpreting protection schematic drawings
  • Construction and replacement of substation equipment

Systems & Skills

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a diverse and inclusive space
  • Ability to work in a face-paced team dynamic
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Visio, Word, PowerPoint, Etc.)
