Job description

Robertson Heating Supply is a family-owned Midwest HVAC & Plumbing Wholesale Company with 40 locations throughout Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Indiana. With 92 years of experience, Robertson’s continues to be an industry leader.

Robertson’s is currently looking for a leader who is organized, motivated, and a self-starter to fill a position of Branch Manager trainee in our Monroeville and Cranberry Twp territories. The candidate will complete 12 months of hands-on training to adequately learn our products, inventory system, leadership, and sales skills. Prior experience in the plumbing/HVAC industry is very helpful for this position. This is a unique industry where product knowledge is key.

A Branch Manager is a vital link to the company’s current and future progress. This position is for a working branch manager. The expectation is that the manager will also work at the sales counter and help in the warehouse to pull orders as needed.

  Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Inventory
    • Proper accounting of products such as invoicing, credits, warehouse transfers, and receiving
    • Perform physical inventory counts (year end, cycle counts)
    • Proper reporting/ processing of all damaged and defective products
    • Proofing inventory reports, such as monthly cost inventory, manufacturer invoices/ credits
    • Advise of inventory overages/ shortages
  • Managing Employees
    • Responsible for managing all employees at branch including evaluations
    • Advise or recommend training for employees
    • Communicate and instruct employees on company policies and procedures
    • Schedule, plan, and conduct quarterly employee meetings and report results
    • Assist in hiring/ termination of branch personnel
    • Properly report attendance/ tardiness of employees
  • Sales
    • Directly manage all aspects of sales and marketing in branch’s territory
    • Oversee distribution of sales at branch and dealer deliveries
    • Entering customer orders on computer
    • Maintain up-to-date discounts and special pricing for each dealer account in Computer Review internal reports
    • Support and promote all company sales promotion efforts
    • Plan how to grow sales at branch and enact the plan
    • Pulling customer orders (gathering material from warehouse)
  • Building/ Grounds
    • Provide proper maintenance of material handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks)
    • Perform proper maintenance/cleaning schedule for all branch vehicles
    • Securing of building and contents during open/closed hours
    • Maintain proper working order of office machines, computers, phones, fax machines
    • Control expenses related to building and grounds such as utilities and maintenance

Salary range is flexible and commensurate with prior relevant experience and qualifications.

Final compensation will be determined based on skills, applicable work history, and overall fit for the role.

In addition to base salary pay, we also offer a monthly bonus program based on employee’s sales and gross profit. There are also potential year-end bonuses based on your profitability, on-boarding milestone incentives, and performance-based bonuses.

Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 4:45pm, and 10 Saturday mornings per year (3 are set by corporate, 7 set by employee)

As a trainee, this position may require time split between branches in the territory area. The area would be about a 75-mile radius.

Must be willing to relocate for branch manager openings within a 75-mile radius.
