Salary Range: The full pay range for this role is $84,700 - $141,100 annually, and the good faith estimated starting pay for this position upon hire is $105,000 to $118,000 annually. We generally base our salary decisions on factors including but not limited to, relevant work and leadership experience, education, demonstrated performance, internal equity, and in some cases, geographic location.

Scope of Job

The Senior Technical Training Specialist – Wind is a vital role within the EDF AO (Asset Optimization) technical training organization, is responsible for the development, coordination, and delivery of comprehensive technical training programs for wind turbine technicians and other operational personnel. This role requires an individual with extensive technical knowledge of wind turbines, excellent teaching skills, and the ability to design and implement effective training curricula. In this role the Staff Wind Technical Training Specialist supports a dynamic group of technical instructors that focuses on strategically aligning itself with the Operations & Maintenance of Renewable Assets with a goal of creating the safest most reliable O&M service provider. The Staff Wind Technical Training Instructor main priority is to increase employee’s safety and productivity by designing, developing, and delivering best in industry training and on the job support solutions. In this role he or she will interact with other training organizations throughout EDF Renewables to ensure all training needs for the EDF AO Operations & Maintenance employees are achieved.

Applicants must be fluent in both French and English to effectively communicate with our diverse teams and stakeholders.


  • Training Program Design and Development:
    • Design, develop, and update technical training materials and curricula for wind turbine technicians, including classroom, online, and hands-on training modules.
    • Assess training needs by staying current with industry trends, technology advancements, and changes in regulations.
    • Collaborate closely with subject matter experts to identify training needs, learning objectives, and content specifications.
    • Maintain and operate training equipment, ensuring that all tools and materials are available and in good condition for training sessions.
  • Instructional Design and Delivery:
    • Develop engaging and effective learning experiences by incorporating adult learning principles, interactive activities, simulations, and practical exercises.
    • Deliver technical training sessions on various aspects of wind turbine technology, maintenance, and safety procedures.
    • Deliver training through various channels, including in-person workshops, virtual sessions, webinars, and e-learning platforms.
    • Certify technicians and other personnel in specific competencies and ensure compliance with industry standards, such as those set by the Global Wind Organization (GWO).
    • Provide mentorship and coaching to trainees, offering feedback and guidance to support their professional development.
  • Content Creation and Enhancement:
    • Create and update training materials, presentations, documentation, videos, and other resources to ensure the accuracy and relevance of training content.
    • Collaborate with subject matter experts and operational leaders to ensure training content is accurate and relevant to current field practices.
  • Learning Management System (LMS) Oversight:
    • Manage training content on the LMS platform, ensuring ease of access, organization, and user-friendly navigation.
    • Drive refinement and management of pivotal Dayforce courses, integral for new EDF employees.
    • Manage training records and documentation, ensuring that all training activities are properly recorded, and certifications are tracked.
  • Assessment and Continuous Improvement:
    • Develop and administer assessments, quizzes, and evaluations to measure the effectiveness of training programs.
    • Develop tracking methods of training, retention, and key performance metrics to support employee development.
    • Analyze feedback and assessment results to identify areas for improvement and make data-driven adjustments.
  • Industry Expertise and Compliance:
    • Stay abreast of developments in the wind energy industry, and regulatory changes that impact EDF Renewables operations and maintenance.
    • Ensure training content meets compliance requirements, safety standards, and regulatory mandates.
    • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay informed about best practices in technical training and adult education.
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervision of Others:

  • Oversee the curriculum and laboratory setup for all technical training specialists.
  • Ensure the safety and welfare of trainees during training classes.

Working Conditions:

80% of time is spent in the classroom or training facility, with regular hands-on training sessions conducting training. 20% of time is spent outside of the office visiting vendors’ and/or internal customers’ sites in addition to attending various conferences and meetings.

Education/Experience –

  • 10+ years of as a wind turbine technician or engineer, with in-depth knowledge of turbine systems, maintenance practices, and safety protocols
  • 10+ years of field engineering experience
  • Technical degree or certification in wind energy technology, engineering, or a related field; additional certification in technical training or adult education is a plus.
  • Proven experience in designing and delivering technical training programs in a corporate or educational setting.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) and e-learning development tools

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities –

  • To be bilingual (English and French), preferred French Canadian. 
  • Extensive knowledge of multiple renewable energy platforms and components. 
  • Ability to conduct classroom training and engage the adult learner with different styles of learning. 
  • Proficiency in learning management systems, e-learning tools, and virtual training platforms.
  • High degree of comfort with a collaborative and open culture of cross-functional teams. 
  • Analytical mindset to assess training effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
  • Leadership experience, including team management and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Knowledge and experience with project management tools and techniques
  • Must demonstrate excellent leadership and training skills.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills, able to influence and direct intra- and inter-departmental personnel.
  • Competency with Microsoft Office & Adobe Suite applications necessary.
  • Must demonstrate good organizational skills, computer skills, and project planning skills.
  • Maintain a valid passport. 
  • Maintain a valid driver's license. 

Physical Requirements: 

The position will require standing for extended periods during training delivery and performing physical tasks during hands-on demonstrations.
