Position Overview

We are looking for an Interventional Radiologist to join our dedicated team, committed to serving our nation's veterans. This role reports directly to the Chief of Diagnostics.

Key Responsibilities

The physician will fulfill a dual role as both an interventional radiologist and a diagnostic radiologist, depending on patient care demands. Responsibilities include:

• Conducting a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic image-guided procedures.
• Performing general diagnostic radiology tasks, including image interpretation and fluoroscopic examinations.
• Contributing to quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.
• Providing oversight of technical quality and educating staff and trainees.
• Participating in committee assignments and other activities that align with the mission and values of the organization.

Interventional Radiologist Duties

• Assessing the appropriateness of interventional radiology orders and preparing for procedures.
• Demonstrating expertise in image-guided procedures and ensuring thorough post-procedure care.
• Coordinating care with the interventional radiology team and other relevant medical staff.
• Reviewing patient charts and imaging records, conducting assessments, and managing patient care.
• Interpreting non-invasive vascular studies (e.g., ultrasound, CTA, MRA) and performing both basic and advanced vascular ultrasound.
• Executing invasive procedures such as catheter-directed thrombolysis, venous insufficiency treatments, dialysis access interventions, TIPS, and embolization for various conditions.
• Conducting non-vascular invasive procedures, including biopsies, drainages, tumor ablations, and joint injections.
• Facilitating effective communication with primary care providers and participating in educational activities.
• Managing pre- and post-procedural care for listed procedures in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Occasionally covering other radiology modalities as needed.
• Supervising and evaluating medical students, residents, and fellows in interventional radiology.
• Attending interdisciplinary conferences and serving on departmental committees as assigned.

Compensation and Benefits

Recruitment Incentive: May be available.

Salary: Competitive compensation with annual performance bonuses and regular salary increases.

Contract: No employment contract required, with no significant restrictions on moonlighting.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Basic Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens are unavailable, per VA policy.
• Board certification is mandatory.
• A medical degree or equivalent from an accredited institution recognized by the Department of Veterans Affairs.
• A current, unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia.
• Completion of residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in a recognized specialty program.
• Proficiency in both spoken and written English.

Preferred Experience

• A minimum of 2 years of demonstrated knowledge and capability in the field.
