This position receives Hazardous Duty Pay, which is paid biweekly at $60 (not included in salary above).

The State of New Hampshire, NH department of Corrections, NH State Prison for Men has a full-time vacancy for MEDIA GENERALIST II.
Summary:
Responsible for all phases of the day-to-day operation of the correctional system law libraries, general libraries and two satellite libraries, working in close and immediate contact with prisoners on a daily basis, having responsibility for security.
YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS: Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience: Equivalent combination of 4 years of education and experience after completion of high school. Education and experience must be in library science, education, communications, or experience in professional library or media program work in areas such as processing, circulation of materials, dissemination of information, preparation of instructional materials, and operation and utilization of specialized technological services, or a related field, 1 year of which must have been in a supervisory or management level position.
License/Certification:
Valid driver's license and access to transportation statewide.
Must be appropriately certified, or eligible for certification through a statement of eligibility, by the NH State Department of Education's Certification Office in Library Media Specialist #0036 or Library Coordinator #0035.
Other Requirements: Must pass security and background screenings required for correctional environments.
Trainee Option: Candidates with an equivalent combination of 3+ years of relevant education and experience after completion of high school and no supervisory experience may be considered and hired in 'trainee status' for this position.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: None.
AFTER-HIRE REQUIREMENTS: Successful completion of the Corrections Academy within 12 months of hire and continuing certification as correctional line personnel as established by the certifying authority.

Responsibilities:
DETAILED TASKS (AGENCY/POSITION-SPECIFIC):
Provides supervision, training, and education to DOC assigned library staff and inmate workers in all phases of circulating libraries: computerized circulation, inventory control, cataloging, book repair and protection, and recordkeeping, in order to provide both adequate staffing for the library and opportunity for rehabilitation for inmate staff.
Provides direct services to inmates that do not have access to the library (Special Housing Unit, Close Custody Unit, Residential Treatment Unit, Infirmary and Transitional Work Centers), to ensure compliance with court mandated guidelines.
Responsible for the evaluation, selection, and purchasing of legal materials to ensure compliance with court-mandated guidelines.
Evaluates, selects, and purchases a wide range of books, magazines, and newspapers to provide inmates with adequate, updated, recreational reading material.
Evaluates, selects, and purchases a wide variety of supplies necessary for the effective day-to-day operation of the library.
Responsible for keeping accurate records of all material that enters, circulates, or leaves the library in order to minimize loss and maximize accountability.
Responsible for the daily scheduling of a large number of inmates requesting library use, in order to make maximum use of library space and available time.
Acts as a role-model, to a wide variety of inmates by maintaining appropriate appearance, verbal interaction and demeanor while fulfilling and carrying out her/his own responsibilities.
Performs all additional duties and/or assignments as determined by NH DOC and/or the Corrections Special School District administration including high school equivalency classroom instruction.
