Job description

THE POSITION Join the Bureau of Occupational and Industrial Safety (BOIS) as a Certification, Accreditation and Licensing Inspector Trainee and start a meaningful career helping keep communities safe. This role allows you to learn important inspection skills while supporting statewide safety goals. You will gain hands-on experience with guidance from seasoned staff regarding safety inspections and compliance work.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK This role focuses on learning inspection methods that support statewide safety and compliance objectives. As a Certification, Accreditation and Licensing Inspector Trainee, you will perform the following duties: Inspection Support: Assist with inspections of bedding, upholstery, stuffed toys, and related records to assess compliance Safety Testing: Assist in conducting ultraviolet device testing and analyze results for disinfection processes Site Monitoring: Assist with inspections of asbestos and lead abatement sites and take corrective actions when necessary Training Oversight: Assist in auditing training providers handling asbestos and lead abatement programs Public Guidance: Respond to public inquiries and interpret regulations for contractors and training providers Report Preparation: Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain daily and monthly activity logs Interested in learning more.

Home Headquartered: This position is home headquartered. In order to be home headquartered, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year of experience in building maintenance or construction, workplace safety or inspection, retail sales, or customer service; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements: This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license. You must obtain a valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania asbestos worker training course completion certificate, a valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania lead-based paint activities worker training course completion certificate, and a valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania lead-based paint activities inspector training course completion certificate within the probationary period. Other Requirements: You must reside in or be willing to relocate to one of the following counties by date of hire: Centre, Union, Lycoming, Clinton, Snyder, Montour or Northumberland County.
