Job description

SUMMARY

Responsible for the safe maintenance, repair or replacement of plant equipment and systems, to ensure maximum production quantity and quality, while supporting the policies, goals and objectives of the Company.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This is not intended as a comprehensive list; it is intended to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed, and may be required to perform additional, position-specific tasks.

  • Executes the plant maintenance program for assigned shift based on best practices in the forging industry, with an emphasis on planning/scheduling and preventive/predictive maintenance. 
  • Monitors the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment and initiates reordering when necessary; ensures that maintainers follow purchasing procedures and coordinates material requirements to support on-going and future maintenance actions.

  • Maintains and repairs maintenance shop equipment; informs Management of asset status to assure Departmental Capability is known at all times.

  • Assists in establishing and maintaining a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for tracking work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history of plant equipment. Trains subordinates in the effective use of the system and ensures workers use the system for tracking work orders, PM’s and hours of work.
  • Prepares reports, analyzes data, and makes recommendations for improving plant 
  • operations and solving maintenance-related problems. 

  • Supervises shift personnel and develops subordinates through mentoring, training 
  • and routine feedback.

  • Ensures that maintenance technicians are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated so that the maintenance program can be accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner. 
  • Communicates regularly with all maintenance technicians, both individually and as a group, to ensure good two-way communication concerning maintenance issues. 

  • Assists with hiring of maintenance personnel and identifies human capital needs to management.  
  • Conducts hourly employee performance reviews based on job descriptions to measure competency, knowledge, and contribution of the maintenance technicians. 
  • Maintains and updates operating and training manuals for the maintenance department and assists in the development of procedures where gaps exist.
  • Ensures that all maintenance technicians are trained on the most updated version of the operating procedures. 
  • Reviews the operation of plant equipment and systems constantly, to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipates and solves problems proactively in a timely manner, and identifies opportunities for improvement. 

  • Coordinates the day to day actions required to carry out project implementations that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs. 

  • Tracks, analyzes and improves key maintenance parameters such as asset utilization, maintenance cost, PM compliance, schedule compliance, etc for assigned shift.
  • Maintains safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures. 

  • Ensures city, county, state, and federal regulations relating to the maintenance department are met at all times. 

  • Enforces the safety program for the maintenance department; reviews safety records to uphold standards of maximum safety for all maintenance technicians; implements safety plans and requirements to correct identified shortfalls.

  • Coordinates Maintenance activities with counterparts in Plant Operations Departments. 

  • Communicates directly with the operations department to coordinate maintenance and repair work in process areas. 
  • Performs related duties as assigned. 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Directly supervises employees in the Maintenance department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


QUALIFICATIONS

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.S. Degree in Business Administration or related discipline from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in manufacturing 

  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.

  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5 year’s of experience in a manufacturing environment 
  • Microsoft Office Skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both written and oral form

SALARY RANGE: $80,000/yr - $100,000/yr
