What does a trainee insurance do?

A trainee insurance role typically involves learning the fundamentals of the insurance industry, including understanding different types of insurance policies, risk assessment, and customer service. Trainees often assist senior staff with policy administration, claims processing, and underwriting tasks. To thrive as a Trainee Insurance professional, you need a basic understanding of insurance principles, analytical skills, and a relevant educational background such as a degree in finance, business, or economics. Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The mission of the School of Nursing is to enhance and improve the health and well-being of the people of North Carolina and the nation, and, as relevant and appropriate, the people of other nations, through its programs of education, research, and scholarship, and through clinical practice and community service. The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Nursing has been the leader in nursing education in North Carolina throughout its history. Established in 1950, it was the first school of nursing in North Carolina to offer a four-year baccalaureate nursing degree program followed by the first master's degree program, the first continuing education program for nurses, first doctoral program, and first accelerated BSN option to students with college degrees. Today, the School is renowned for its academic programs, its research and its commitment to clinical and community service within state, national and global communities.
Position Summary
The University is seeking postdoctoral trainees to undertake research training at the School of Nursing, with an emphasis on learning to use intervention mapping and community-engaged research methods in developing multi-level theory-based clinical interventions or implementation strategies for preventing and managing chronic illness-related health disparities. The initial appointment will be for 1 year. Re-appointment for a second year of research training is contingent on productivity (submitted papers, abstracts, applications for funding) and progress towards training goals during year 1. Trainees will work with their mentors to develop an Individual Development Plan (IDP) to inform their training goals, strategies for meeting those goals, and evaluation of their progress. Trainees will participate in two required courses (N957: From theory to intervention and implementation, N958: Designing theory-based intervention studies). Other academic coursework will be kept to a minimum and relate directly to the IDP. Trainees are also required to regularly attend scientific and integrative seminars, associate with a research center at the University, and have mentored research experiences with SON and interdisciplinary faculty. NINR (funding agency) views research training as a full-time obligation. Thus trainees supported by T32NR007091 may work no more than 10 hours per week for pay outside of the T32. Trainees receive a monthly stipend (set by the funding agency based on years post PhD), tuition assistance, and support for professional travel and research-related expenses (including health insurance for the trainee).
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Applicants must be registered nurses (RN) with a research doctorate (PhD) in nursing or a related field.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
All requirements for the PhD must be completed prior to appointment to the research training grant.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Successful candidates will have previous course work and research experiences related to using theory and methodological approaches to study adverse social determinants and structural factors that contribute to chronic illness-related health disparities for individuals, families/households, communities or populations.
