Job description

Job Title
Equipment Technician
Job Summary
The Equipment Technician performs minor and major mechanical repairs on various gasoline and diesel-powered equipment. The role requires working in diverse environments, lifting objects, and performing tasks that may involve confined spaces or uneven terrain.
Essential Job Functions
To perform this role successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function with or without reasonable accommodations:
  1. Inspect equipment for operating deficiencies.
  2. Perform necessary repairs, lubrication, service, and sharpening of equipment as part of a preventative maintenance schedule.
  3. Maintain accurate repair records daily.
  4. Adjust cutting units with precision.
  5. Follow safety procedures at all times.
  6. Operate and/or learn Mig and Arc welding techniques.
  7. Utilize computer systems for maintenance tracking and diagnostics.
  8. Fabricate parts and tools as needed.
  9. Use hydraulic and electrical testing equipment effectively.
  10. Work a flexible schedule, including 50-60 hours/week in season and 40 hours/week off-season.
  11. Be available for holidays and special tournaments as needed.

Qualifications and Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent (some college coursework preferred).
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Proven record of excellent attendance.
  • Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to read and interpret operations/safety manuals and blueprints.
  • Knowledge of internal combustion engines and mower grinding/adjustments.

Work Environment
This position operates in a maintenance shop and outdoor environment, which may include exposure to extreme weather, uneven terrain, and noise.
Compensation and Benefits
  • $17.00 to $22.00 per hour (DOE)
  • Average 30-60 hours/week (flexible schedule)
  • Overtime pay for hours over 40/week

Additional Duties
  1. Provide excellent customer service by acknowledging and exceeding member/guest expectations.
  2. Maintain cleanliness and organization of tools and the shop.
  3. Perform other duties as assigned by the Equipment/Shop Manager.
  4. Demonstrate the proper use of equipment in collaboration with Golf Course Superintendents and Assistant Managers.
  5. Communicate effectively with team members, vendors, and members.
  6. Assist with snow removal (e.g., plowing and hand-shoveling).

Reporting Structure
Reports to the Equipment/Shop Manager, Director of Agronomy, and Superintendent.
